hi guys just thought id post a few pics of my chall , its an ex belguim car started life with a 6cyl then a 318 and now a healthy 440 , 727, 8-3/4 had a ground up resto by myself just under 8 years to see it somewhere near but as we know theres always something that needs doing or modifying . the reg on this car used to be Q158 HVF was once orange with a murial on the bonnet lived in manchester then ended up being painted black and seriously abused i brought it off duncan in 2000 as a non runner its been a lot of work and lonely nights in the garage but all that goes when your behind the wheel and listening to them 8 cyl,s pumping away

thanks for the compliments guys been out in today and stretched its legs with a few blasts of coarse £50 in fuel but all worth it

The price of fuel is starting to reach the same level as the amount of joy it brings.

To do himself full credit, Jim should post some pics of how the car was when he started. You wouldn't recognise it as the same vehicle.

I'm particularly looking forward to seeing this car at the Nats this year. It's an absolute thing of beauty, and very well thought through.

How well did you run at the Hot Rod Drags Jim?

dave, went 12.30 at 110mph 1.74 60ft as you see i left them heavy front wheels on and didnt touch the motor at all from the nats all i did was adjust the bands in the t,flite and kickdown linkage, normally when i change them rims to my alloys i gain a 10th so maybe with a bit of messing around i,m back to where it was 12.1 to 12.2 ish also stayed consistent on them figures, i,l be chasing a p,b when i sort them heads etc

as this is back up the top thought i would update it with a few recent pics

thanks pat sure is a tight fit i have to drive it in half way and push it the rest as i would never get out if i drove it all the way in good job we have a big workshop to carry out repairs and maintanance

Are you running the full exhaust with tips or open headers to get into the 12's?

What Jim has not shown is how bad this car was before he rebuilt it. There was a lot of metalwork done to get it to that standard.

thanks jon, i run open headers nowadays, i have tryed it with exhausts and runs aprrox 3-4 10ths slower even though its 3" flowmasters with 2.5" over the axle to the tail pipes. so low 12,s without exhaust, mid to high 12,s with

Lots of work there Jimbob and a great result . I am hoping to do my quarters in the next month or so, but my wife is also due to have our baby soon so I am not sure how that is going to go!!

Quite an undertaking from the pictures. You must not have a social life. Remember losing my first wife when I told her we were doing a new motor and paint. She said "Not We..." Oh well.

Thanks for the info on the exhaust and strip times. Good indication as too loss with the full system in place.

yea i have an early (year one) AAR hood,it looks like a blind man with broken fingers made it,junk pure junk,

i have the latest stamping from AMD , so far the fenders look good,soon enough we will find out about 1/4,s

thanks for your compliment take your time on your quarters and i,m sure you will get them right, after all it took me 7 years to complete my car, 2 years was just body work and lots of late nights was it all worth it ? damn right it was, as i dont use it every day its always a special moment when i get in it and fire that big dude up, sometimes i drive it to work, must be the only time i enjoy going to work

I am at the 10 year stage, i have collected parts for 10 years, quarters here, inner panels there, i have a whole room full of parts i know the feeling it does take time alot of time

10 years 7 dont seem to bad for me now, i bet though drew if you hadnt got the challenger the cuda would have been on the road a long time ago
