Winter cruising with a '70 Challenger R/T

Postby Automotive Engineer » 16 Feb 2008 19:19

Hi

This year we have had in Finland very exceptional winter. In the Southern Finland we haven't had snow nearly at all and temperature has been almost regulary over 0C. Cloudy weather and rain showers has been typical for this winter. :(

Today we had a very fine weather, the sun was shining, streets were dry and we had a mild frost , -5C.

I just could not resist the temptation to take my Chally out of the garage tasting the crisp weather.
It was more than enjoyable cruising on the streets and hearing the Big Block roaring again.

Finding a Challenger in the traffic in the "middle of winter" is quite uncommon here in Finland and many fellow motorist were having their thumbs up when noticed our ride.

Find enclosed a couple of pics taken today.

At this time of year we would normally have at least a half a meter snow and temperature of -10 to -15 Celcius. We would ski and play ice hockey, and driving our Muscle Cars would be possible only in our imagination while waiting for the summer to come.

It was real fun to take the Chally out of the garage - in the middle of winter. I really hope that this won't possible in the future. Otherwise the Global warming is becoming true. And I'm speeding it up with high CO-emissions

Driving now with my Chally was like a first aid to the wounds that I got when the trade of the purple JS27 did not succeed, thanks to the :fight: AH seller. I was already reserving the flights to Minneapolis when he informed preferring to sell it to a local.

I can only understand that kind of behaviour from the seller, if in the car was something else false, not only the Fender Tag that was already clarified here in an other topic.

I really like that color combination. Many years ago I had a 72 Satelite Sebring in that same yellow color with a black half vinal top and black interior. That was one of my favorite cars of all time. :D

Thanks for the pictures AE. In a way, congratulations with the unusual winter break. At least a ride in your nice Challenger may help console the potential climate change there in the northern realm. Hopefully your historical weather isn't heading our way though. :) There haven't been a consistent set of winters (or summers for that matter) here in quite a while.

I can see why you get noticed. That is a great looking Challenger. Cold or not, that baby doesn't need to be kept up too long.
