1973 Challenger

1973 Rallye Challenger, 440-auto, black interior. I am the third owner, I have owned it for 10 years, I finished restoring it in 2001. I have the orignal sales contract, build sheet and fender tag. I also have the original 340, that I took out two years ago, and I plan on putting it back in the future. Fun car, like to drive it. Thanks, John

I used to date a gmynast from Cookville, she went to Tenn. Tech and was a biology major. Yes, we need more pics of that awesome machine man. :thumbsup:

Hey Red Raven, sorry it took so long, but I did not change the k-member, and I did not have to change the length of the drive shaft. The length of the 340 and trans, is very close to the length of the BB and trans. It was a pretty easy swap, John

How differently did the car perform on the corner's with the big block than the small block? If it did, what changes did you make? I think our cars came with the same heavy duty suspension. :roll:

Hey Patrick, I didnt realize very much difference, Although, I raised the front end up about an inch, I didnt check the weight difference, but I really cant tell alot of difference. I was told I might have to change the torsion bars, It seems to give it a little more flex, but for normal driving, I think its fine ,Thanks John

Thank's Man! I keep hearing about those Big Block's cleaning ditche's out when it come's to cornering performance. But like Dave say's. He's got enough aluminum and aftermarket part's in his, that his 440 actually weigh's less than my Factory 340. With that in mind, I would like to put my 340 up for awhile, and put Dave's 440 in there. Engine Envy! :twisted:

But, you never know. Maybe, someday, a wild crate 426 Hemi or bigger would look real nice in that engine bay. :V8:

Hey John, I do not know what the exact speck's on my engine are but, to date, it's not bugged by 5.0 or 4.9 mustang's. :lol:

I even got ridd of my header system. Got sick and tired of grounding out. :s006:

The car is still good up to 140+MPH with my 323.1 Sure grip Rear, stock manifold's. Woudn't try it for long though. :s004:

Sounds like you got it going on, I took out a 3:55 shortly after putting the 440 in, and replaced it with a 2:94, It is a highway gear!, I was going to some of the shows with some friends in the club who had big C-bodies, and b-bodies, with tall gears. They would float along 75-80 miles an hour, and My engine sounded like a junebug in a lard can, so I changed the gears, not as quick, but not turning the RPMs either, John

Sound's like a very nice cruiser. Track competition is a lot of fun. Cruzin' down the highway is another experience. Especially in eastern Washington. Open range, not much traffic. :s002:

Gives you that Kowalski driving feeling, minus the D-10 Cat's. :mrgreen:

I am running a 275/60/15, 8"rim with a 4 1/2 back space, I called coker tire and they told me the biggest size i could run, It is very close on the left side, I had to trim a little off the molding, but it works, John
