1971 Pace Car

Postby jh27n0b » 25 Oct 2007 0:18

Here is a picture of my Challenger Pace Car. I was the second owner of this car the car had 50,000 miles on it when I bought it in 1980. I sold this car to buy the purple convertible that I own today.

See what you have started Red.

Wayne, Bob is being modest. His car is gorgeous! It caught my eye as I was leaving the restroom at the INDY Trade show

Emblems?

Postby Rizrtse » 25 Oct 2007 19:26

Is one of those fairly rare 383 4 barrel non RT cars as signified by the front quarter emblem? Do they in fact say 383 4 barrel?

Yes Rizrtse, this is a factory 383 four barrel non R/T. Original engine and tranny still in her. The fender emblem does indeed say 383 four barrel.

Thanks Eddie, you are way to kind to this old Hoosier.

The car was a rust bucket when I bought her in 1982. I drove her as my everyday car until 1987. She was sitting in my garage untill I did a full rotisserie restoration on her 2 years ago. She needed floor pan, quarters, inner front fenders and a trunk pan. This is why I don't mind driving her around, not a lot of original sheet metal. I hope to someday collect all of my resto pics and link them here.1970 DODGE CHALLENGER CONVERTIBLE 383 FOUR BARREL

Red, It does seem weird that I only run into Eddie at the boys room. At the Mopar Nationals I am walking by and there is Eddie, standing at the entrance to the boys room. Nobody else in line just Eddie.

I have a theory  ...I reckon hes waiting for the highly likely event that because of all the trouser adjusting at this location somebody someday will drop the keys to their HEMI....and Eddie will swiftly move in :s023: :s023: ...and the next thing you will see is a cloud of dust...with the smell of burning rubber and loads of yelling!!! :wink2:

I like your theory much better than my theory. Dave probably would not allow my theory.

Your suspicions about Eddie reminds me of the time i was in a department store in the ladies underwear dept.

My girlfriend at the time needed a new bra so she was in trying it on for fit while I waited just outside the changing room.

I woman from work was passing and said hello what are you doing here sort of thing.

So I joked "Oh i always hang around the ladies changing room here on Saturday afternoons. I get my kicks that way". Well she laughed and that was that.

But my girlfriend later decided she didn't like the bra she had bought. So the next Saturday I took her to take it back and try on another one....

Yep. You guessed it. The same woman from work came by again.
Only this time she didn't speak. She just looked at me with a look of horror and disgust and walked away.

You know she never spoke to me at work again?

side body molding?

Postby Rizrtse » 30 Oct 2007 22:20

Also noticed the rare body side molding...you dont list that in the codes. I took them off my car and filled the holes in...couldn't find any NOS pieces needed because of the full rsto I did. I really couldnt see myself putting old moldings back on the car even if I had them restored...the hard rubber center is impossible to fix. 6 pieces in my garage waiting for ebay one day. Nice car.

Thanks Rizrtse. Those are not body side mouldings, They are the V7W dual paint stripes. On later 70's and from then on they moved the V7 stripes closer to the top of the fender, door and quarter panel.
