Dale's 73 project

Postby Dale1035 » 15 Sep 2007 18:30

Here are some pictures of my 73 340 Ralley. When i towed the car home it had already had some work done on it. However the previous owner got in over his head with the body work. He had the trunk pan cut out and some other parts had been removed and tossed. After 4 years of work the car is about ready for paint, and TO BE DRIVEN.

Nice Dale, I bet you're pumped! That 340 rocks and you can make some nice power with it. Did you do a "stock" O.E.M. style re-build to it? I used to make the weekly trip to the Prison,(Feds), near Henderson Ky. when I was on the Transport crew. :s017: We moved the snitches and gang bangers around to prevent them from being taken "off' the count.

Nice lines and margins from what I can see in the Primer stage. Please post more pictures after the finish coat. :)

Eddie
I am hoping that my first road trip will be to your home town. We are planning to go the the hill climb in Newport and staying in your home town. I just hope that the car is ready by then. And I am like a 10 year old waiting for Christmas .

The engine was checked and only needed to be resealed. Many leaks after sitting. The engine has had just a few modifications. Mopar Performance 284:484 cam, Edelbrock Intake, and headers. The Transmission was in good shape and only had a new torque converter and gasket set. I have also replaced all front end parts, brakes, shocks ball joints, radiator, water pump, fuel pump, all new wiring, carpet and headliner. Mechanically it should be ready to go.

I finally got the Challenger out of the shop this week. I still have a lot of work getting it put back together. It is driveable but still has to have the vinal top and trim put on. The bumpers are painted but I will get new chrome bumbers when the $$$$ are available.

Dale , excellent progress on your car! Let me know when you come up to Terre Haute the Newport Hill Climb is a pretty cool affair, I personally have never been to one. I would enjoy it if we could meet and I can give you a ride in an 1970 N-96 R/T. Slightly modified for some curvy roads and Pistol Grip action :s003:

We went to the Hill Climb last year and had a great time. The only problem was the weather. almost 90 degrees in October. I would like to take a ride in a real RT.

It has been a while since I have had time to play with the computer. Work seem to always get in the way of things that you like to do. I finally had time to get the vinyl top on the car. I still have a lot of little things to do but I just have to take things one part at a time. Here is the latest picture.
