Shame the fender tag is so far out of focus. I tried to sharpen it on my PC but I am not very good at this stuff.

changing 73 Rallye color

Postby Pat Hartley » 02 Jun 2007 23:41

O.K. It's now FY1, was JY9. When I restore, it's been 11 year's since last paint job. What do you guy's think of TX9 with the black top as well?

I have always thought the 72-74 Challengers look better in dark colours and best in black.
Something to do with that front grille I think.

But then again I love black e-bodies in particular with black interiors and black stripes.

Black E-BODY

Postby Pat Hartley » 04 Jun 2007 2:22

I completely agree Dave! I'm not going to tear everything apart right away. Paint still is in very good shape for 11 year's old. But, by the time I reach 50, I think a black MOPAR will beat the sock's off black Rose's and over the hill card's. Already got those for my 30th and 40th B-day's. Have a great day! Pat

If your freinds are anything like mine you will still get the over the hill cards and a bottle of Viagra.

I have to wait another two years before I get all that. :D

I kinda like the black (darker color) also. The yellow is pretty noticable though and turns more heads. (and radar guns) Are you planning to keep the vinyl top? I had two and both promoted rust aroung the rear window. Just my opinion.

Black E-BODY

Postby Pat Hartley » 05 Jun 2007 4:03

I've alway's loved the vinyl top. I agree with the rust promoting theory though. That's why the wife's brand new non vinyl top car sit's outside, and the Challenger stay's inside. Warm and dry! :D I think the last owner did the same thing, no rust underneath that I can see anyway. I'm still thinking about it. Knowing me, I'll probably put a new vinyl skin on top. Take it easy; Pat

Mine was black before, it was very hard to keep it clean. To me, a great black paint job shows the dust. I changed to orange.

Black Rallye?

Postby Pat Hartley » 07 Jun 2007 3:51

Hey David. Like the orange paint with the black vinyl. The blackout on the hood is Awesome too! My wife want's me to redo the Top Bananna color and add that same black graphic on the hood that you have. I've already considered dust and water spot's on a black chally. It's kind of fun though when your washing and pollishing when people drive by real slow with rubber neck's. Some have to just stop and check it out. Never get tired of talking about it though. :D Whatever color it is, it's a pure pleasure to have something cool and rare! Still thinking black though 8) Pat

Oh My God! I just went over the 90,000 mark on my odometer. :| I know I can't keep the car in a bubble, or maybe I can. What kind of fun would that be though? I think, I should put that original mileage thing to the side. And just enjoy the car. Stupid post but, just had to vent, Patrick P.S. Here's some more Pic's.

Thank's, Eddie. I didn't mean to bore the regular member's with old pic's. Just thought I would throw together a small compilation, so the new guy's could see on one thread.
