Thanks for the flowers guys. Mopar Steve, the window insert was filled in with what they call kitty hair..........Basicly short fiber fiberglass that sticks to the insert well...........Provided a smooth appearance......
Started some reassembly today, More tomorrow......

Looking great. I always think that this is the most nerve wracking part of the process but also the most rewarding. Do you plan to have it done by the Mopar nationals? If so, are you planning to attend? Hope to see it there.

Vinyl top was installed when she was painted. I still have to do some dash work so I haven't put the windshield in yet. And yes it is a nice Mustang. He still has to put on the louvers and spoiler, and door handles and mirrors and , and and and .....you know.......

I have to admit it. The 67-70 fastbacks are nice machines! I would never buy anything other than MoPar but this one sure would raise some eyebrows, it's a 1 of 4 Convertible Shelby 428 SCJ #2 on the Shelby registry I believe, also 4-speed and fresh air, very rare. On it's way to MCR for a full resto,(Concours 200,000 estimated cost to restore)!! It was in beautiful condition as well, I would have left it alone but.....

Wiring and instruments

Postby DAYLEY/CHALLENGER » 08 Oct 2007 2:46

Been working on the wiring, tracking to see where what goes. I think most everything is ok. Will know for sure when I put the dash back in. Painted the instrument needles yesterday. They look fresh now. Rear window in too.

The top

Postby DAYLEY/CHALLENGER » 08 Oct 2007 10:56

The guys that painted the car did the top. There isn't supposed to be any extra material under the rear window but somehow they ended up with about 2" extra that I had to "work" into a folded seam in the middle. I guess it will be ok. Just looks strange to me. Maybe everyone else will think it is supposed to be there.

Pat, you have gotta be loving this man! Big Al, the car looks incredible! Thanks for posting! About that 'seam' it wont 'unravel' or expand will it? It looks fine, I wouldnt worry a bit about it. Something about the SpecialEdition 'backlight and window plug. It's so cool. The SE is a one year only option correct? Is it true that Chrysler voluntarily deleted it for 1971 due to pressure from the insurance companies? Very cool car. Tops :V8:

There was an A78 option (formal roof) listed for 1971 (not if the power sunroof was optioned) even though there was no S.E. model but I don't recall ever seeing any?
