anytime. he is really good with these things. my electrical system fried and he is working it now.

My car returned but it is still overcharging. I am going to replace the VR tonight allong with the ballest resistor. Hopefully that will work.

just an update, it didnt work. I guess that they werent giving me a challenger alternator and it was acting like it was full fielded and bypassing the regulator. got another one and it is working fine but my tach, fuel, temp, oil gauges along with my turn signals are not working

LA built cars did NOT have build sheets, that's what I have been told.

I just noticed and visited the link to stockmopar.com somewhere on this thread. Dave, have a look at this :

It seems woodgrain was only standard on SE models, all others had to have a trim package to get it.

BTW, I have never seen this dealer brochure anywhere before. Pretty interesting...

That is a scan I made and it has been copied from this message board. :wink: :s021:

The brochure was printed before the cars got into production and several minor details were changed once production started. So I was never sure what the full story was. But I would guess if you had woodgrain on the dash and or a centre console fitted they would have put the woodgrain on the doors too?

My R/T SE went down the LA line on 11/7/69, just ahead of our new member's sleeper. There is no J54 on the fender tag for mine, either. Also, Dave, did you notice the double listing of the V1X code? I have not seen that on a Hamtramck tag yet but I keep checking them for it.

Yeah we have talked about this before haven't we? Decided it was an LA only thing. Every LA tag I have seen seems to have that.

I have no idea of the way back when history of my R/T SE. I do know that it was raced because it had the required long studs in it and the rear valence was cut for longer shackles to raise th rear end and make room for bigger rims and tires. I am grateful that it wasn't tubbed. The original engine was removed and put in a race boat, but I did get it and the transmission back to reunite the matching numbers.

right on. good to know that it is back together. the only way that i know the history of mine is because of my father being with it since day 1. he was there when his boss brought it to work the first day that he got it and then my dad bought it from him and had it ever since. then he bribed me into the Air Force by giving it to me to go in.
