Shrink photos

Does anybody know how to shrink photos so they will fit on this site? :roll:

There's plenty of software that can do it. Even Microsoft's Paint that comes with Windows.

....but do you really need to shrink them?

Isn´t the only thing to consider whether the picture´s format is allowed or not? ( Allowed formats: gif jpeg jpg png tga tif )

I've always used Adobe Photoshop. You normally get a free limited version with new computers.

I use Irfranview. It is simple and FREE!

Dowload it from http://www.irfanview.com

This board will take large files but for easier viewing it is best to drop the resolution down to 1024x768. Use the jpg type format if you can.

I really enjoy using Irfanview. I think it is a great program. :nod:

Question: Once or twice I have tried to make a new pic using just a part of another pic, that is I want to keep just a small part of a pic and get rid of the rest. If I remeber it right, I have tried to use "Edit/Cut-Leave selection". The thing is that I get an unwanted black frame around the new pic. How do I get rid of this black frame? Is it possible to get rid of it?

You select the area you want to keep by dragging the mouse.

Then from the menu select "Edit" and then "Crop Selection".

Short way is to press Ctrl + Y
