OK, I'm posting some digital pics taken today of the work in progress. I'm trying to have this one ready for the Spring Fling and enter it in the E-body Restified class. I am adding the shaker hood, six-pack, front disc brakes, TTI headers and a MOPAR Performance 484 cam, all of which will work pretty well with the 3.55 Shur-Grip rear end. Did I mention the yet-to-be-selected stereo? You gotta have good music.......
The car was special ordered. The paint code is 999 on the fender tag. The color found under the weather stripping and where the windshield was removed matched a color offered only on 1970 Chrysler Imperials - EA9 Charcoal Iridescent.

An engine tune-up don't slap you in the face from 200 yards like your cars do Jack. If I could get mine to look anywhere near as good as yours I would be a very happy man indeed.
Progress report....... The heater box went in today followed by the fan motor so the real fun could begin. I flipped the front bumper brackets over and swapped them left to right and right to left for a better lift angle, hooked the engine hoist up to them, lifted the front end of the car and rolled the engine/K-frame/transmission assembly under it. I lowered the car and bolted up the assembly into it, lifted it all back up again and landed it back on the jackstands. I stopped to take photos of the process and will post some of them when the roll is developed.
I have to thank Dave for reducing these in size and posting them for me. While I am fairly good with the Challengers, I am at times software-challenged or deprived. The R/T SE is moving towards being done as I begin to explore the mysteries of the dash wiring.

I am staying basic with the interior..... SE interior, black everything with leather seat covers from Legendary. The seats are done and waiting. I have the emergency brake, brakes and front shocks to do and it will be ready for rims and tires..... 15x7 front and 15x8 rear Rallyes with TA Radials and 71 center caps so the dark argent matches the rear finish panel. The shaker will be black and the engine callouts and R/T emblems will be the only source of non gray-scale color on the outside of the car. My preference really leans toward an understated appearance on a high-performance car.
The R/T SE is done! I will shoot pictures at the Fall Fling here in the San Fernando Valley this weekend, get them developed and post a spread next week.
Really looking forward to seeing the finished result Jack. It will give me some inspiration for when mine comes home from the body shop. Which will be soon now.
I have always preferred the 71 center caps because of the contrast to the Rallye Wheel color and since this car is built to my tastes, I got it my way. The match to the car helped me make the choice, too. Thanks for the compliments as well...... I look forward to yours being on the road, too!
Curt - the R/T SE runs pretty well, thanks. After the break-in period, a dyno-tune will really sort things out. I will be at a show down your way tomorrow at Knotts Berry Farm..... maybe some "8 wheels, 6 carbs - no waiting" side-by-side shots would be nice to get - call me and we can set it up. Jack
