My 72 Challenger

Postby DJ » 19 Dec 2003 3:50

Just thought I would post some pics of my car.
I just bought it in September and got it home
in October. I have had a few problems with it
since I pick it up and have not been able to drive
it much yet. It is a 72, orig 318 car now has 440
in it, auto, 3.91 gears.

I have made some changes to the engine, got rid of the cheap rad hose, hooked up heater lines and added a washer bottle (not original one yet).

tires

the car has brand new 245 60 15 BFG tires on it, both front and back.
They do look great not too wide but mean enough to let you know it has
power.

It looks as if the front bumper guards on your car are placed further apart than what was standard. Right? Have you done this mod yourself? Is this a common mod? They line up very nice with the grille! Very nice car!

the bumper guards were like that when i bought it.
here's a better shot of the front of the car.
as you can see the hood does not line up properly
I think I need new hinges.

You just need to mess about with the hood hinge adjustments. It is not easy to get right first time. Or even second time etc...

On the pic, it looks as if the front edge of the hood is misaligned compared to the front edges of the fenders (in height). Have you tried to adjust the bump stops (the ones that adjust the height of hood)? Will really new hood hinges solve your problem? Is the rear part of the hood also misaligned? :?

On the last of your picĀ“s, I think you can see where the bumper guards originally were placed. With sharp eyes, you can see the crome cover plates. (Or am I dreaming... )
Personally, I think the car looks better this way.. 8)

the hood maybe just an alignment problem, I have a freind who is a body
man and is going to look at as soon as he gets a chance.
What you are seeing on the bumper are the bumper bolts, the bumper
guards might have covered these originaly.
