Drew the funny thing with that front bumper was that it was fitted when I first bought the car 20 years ago as a temp measure until I could find a replacement (there were no repros at that time). But it quickly grew on me and I decided to keep it. I always liked the plastic bumpers that were offered on the Barracuda and 71 e-bods.

Hey Dave, I got one question now that it's on the road. Could you put it back up on jack stands and take a measurement for me? :shock:

I'd like to know how far down from the frame rails the (Thorley?) headers protrude. (actually, the difference in ground clearance from the frame rail and the header collector should do the trick).
Also, are the headers angled downwards or are they horizontal?

I must have been asleep, this is the first time i have seen this topic of your car (right from the beginning in 2001). Awesome car, love the colour. So great that you drive it all the time. I love the black vinyl tops on these bright colour cars. There's no denying the 70 is the meanest looking from dead on front and neatest from dead on rear view. (don't like my 71 tail light treatment as much). Are they 295 Yoki's on the back or BF Goodrich? I'll have to read the entire topic now, all 23 pages. Well, better make a start...

Sorry that should have said plastic coated bumpers because they were unchromed steel bumpers with a thick soft plastic coating.

If one needs an ego boost, just take the Challenger into town for a visit. Allow plenty of time for thumbs up, and hearing about the Charger they shouldn't have sold. :lol:

Was at another show at the weekend.

The car got a lot of attention. A giant Navy girl in particular liked it so much she sat watching it for me all day. :lol:

One thing it really needs is a better trans oil cooler though. My current dual engine/trans cooler is not cooling the trans enough. It slowly creeps up to 225 degrees after about a half hours constant driving.

You didn't remind me. :lol:

Horizontal.

3 to 3.5-inches below the frame rails. Hard to measure exactly because the lowest point of the collectors (where the primaries meet) is forward of the frame rails. Plus my floor is not level and the car is raked etc.
You can see them in this photo below.

Mine are Dougs headers. Not Thorley. They seem to be two different companies using the name these days.

Ebay. It is real high quality carbon sheet in a high gloss resin. Very hard to fit indeed I would say. And if you ever cut any wear a mask for Gods sake. This stuff is lethal in your throat.

Between Doug's firm (now owned by Pertronix, I think) and his ex-firm that was owned by his ex-wife after his divorce (mostly known for chrome motorhome headers), it's not always easy to know which is which...

Glad to know you'll be at Santa Pod!
I won't be a pedestrian this time either.

Although I'll still be using the hacked-together temporary 2.5" exhaust I built last year (unless I install the old noisy 3" line back on, since both stop at the axle now, unti I make custom tail pipes).

I'll check the angle and height on my headers, but I think mine are a little slanted to the rear, and the collector flange area is definitely a low spot, although the ground tends to correct this, little by little...

I was just checking the prices for the ferry over and last year the cost was 469+........this year for the exact same journey, times etc it costs 228.

I was at MORPETH in NORTHUMBERLAND. :lol:

It was Morpeth's annual fair day. The whole town center gets closed off and all the streets are lined with stalls and attractions.

I got the pics on FB the engine looks really swell. I like the way you painted the billet Air cleaner form Pro-Max,, it 'blends' in very nicely. The 2 chicks with the dude smiling is nice too. I wonder where his right hand is. :lol:
