'72 Challenger Rallye - export model

Right Dave. My car was direct factory order, build in the US, shipped factory direct to the importer in Switzerland in 1971 and was converted to Euro specs.

The funny VIN numbers are from some european states, the vehicle inspectors have own numbers for better identificaton. So they put those numbers right on the car and they removed the old VIN number. I had this done to another american-build car around 12 years ago.

According to one of my books, the Y09-code was used on an export car between the years 1969 and 1970. Did they change to I-code after that ?

'I' for international and 'U' for USA came in during 1971 or 1972 I think?

Hi Jens,

J have just bought export version of Chelly from Belgium, the car is still wearing original paint too, but has some other damages on chasis. so i will have to repaint it. Take a look on my photos, the car is under resto now so it is not so nice yet. ah my car has done 32000 km, original and i am the second owner of the car. All numbers match, and also i have found broadcast sheet in two copies even. One under drivers seat other under rear seat.

I wonder if the rallye instrument gauges on Jens car also was a 1971 leftover? From this message board, I have learned that 70-71 and 72-74 gauges differ (I canĀ“t find that text right now though)
