Hi guys and gals.
Well I'm new to the board here so I havn't got round to doing pics yet. Heavily into drag racing so car has a 528ci 700+hp motor. Best et is 10.37 and best mph is 132.8. Looking to improve every time car races though.

Nice to see a little air under each front wheel there Tig. Do you still drive this thing on the street at all?

The best way to get these cars to hook in all honesty is to 4 link and tub them with big rubber underneath the arches, this is the best but most costly (not to mention the cutting up of a decent car).
Stateside guys have run mid to lo 8's on 10.5 inch wide tyres. Theres no reason why anyone else can't. If you look at the cars they usually have a 4 link or ladder bars.
Super stock springs work really well and I've seen cars run lo 10's on these. The pinion snubber helps too.
Caltrac fitted cars can go deep into the 9's.
Light weight makes it easier. So does big rubber but at the cost of above. It depends on how fast you want to go, I would go with a super stock set up until you want to run 9's.
Check out these websites.

The last site is the king of the street webpage, unfortunately it's not as well participated in because of silly rule changes, most of the big hitters have moved to other classes.
Monte Smith frequents a forum at www.moparts.com and has explained in some detail whats happened here.
Also the car sees some street miles (at 7mpg not too many) and is not fitted with n2o. The car was built to run Lo 10's but it looks like a 9 may be on the cards with a bit more development. The car still suffers wheelspin and the best 60 ft time is 1.54. It should be in the 1.45-1.40 range. I've also got a bigger carb to try and I'm looking to lose a little weight out of the car too.
Thanks for the complements makes it worthwhile.

Hi.
It's been a while but I'm so stoked about whats going on with this car that I have to tell someone :s007: .
I'll cut it short, 1200hp tunnel rammed N/A 655ci wedge and all the stuff to make it hook and stop.
We're seriously worried about the 8.50 chassis cert

Pretty much the same but lower. :D Wont be out 'till at least '14 with the new motor. Doing chassis stuff, brakes etc with the "mule" 580ci motor next year to make sure stuff works. One change at a time

Yes, we have a full list of race meets this year starting in May with Shakey then all the rest 'till the national finals. Not expecting to do anything spectacular since we'll be testing "mods" at most meetings  .
Christer, you are absolutely right :)

Hi Dave.
Since this is what it does with way less than a 1000ft/lbs, we will be looking to limit the front end travel and hence wheelstands. They won't be as high but we may carry them for a way :) We also have a "slew" rate ign system to calm the launch if needed.
Christer, it hasn't seen the street for 2 years due to one thing or another but we are determined to drive it on the street at least a little this year with the "small" motor. :D
PS The record for a Caltrac car stands at 7.22 at over 200mph! if anyones interested
Dave I'm guessing you posted this in the race section, I can't read it since I'm not an MMA member 8)

Yeah in the race section. Dunc can't understand why you have not gone the turbo route to keep the existing rear end and ease the power in. Or tubbed and 4-linked the rear end if not. :D

I told him about the ignition system you mentioned but I don't understand how that works??

Man, turbo's (or supercharger's) just make crazy power. To tell the truth I couldn't afford the chassis to do a 2000 hp engine justice :D 1500 hp is small block territory with those things
With all the ducks in a row it may break out of it's chassis tag @ 1200 hp and 3900lb but only just, I think that will do! 8) (for the time being :s003: )
A slew rate system will dial back the timing through set instructions, timing will be put back in gradually or in timed stages from launch or dial back through drive line spikes, detected by a speed sensor on the propshaft. The latter is kind of a traction control and I'm not sure if it's legal in some drag classes (like the et classes). All of this stuff is adjustable via s/ware and a lap top. We fitted it last year but haven't tried it out yet, we don't use a rpm sensor on the prop though it would be handy for data :) .
We already monitor left and right bank air fuel ratio, rpm, temp and other basic parameters, you can learn a lot. For example, the motor would go lean at the top of the track despite the 250gph pump and 9/16 fuel line. I wouldn't run that on a 750hp motor let alone a 900 hp one since we found that out.
We'll be leaving the leaf springs on but we'll be updating them with a roll bar, sliders and d/a shocks. The front we'll probably go to a bolt in coil over system.
The plan is in place. Heads are or should be at Penske racing by now, hopefully they'll flow over 500cfm @.850 when done. Pistons, rods, crank, block etc are on order, should be starting to go together late march or early april. To be honest I can't wait
