Well, the camera hides ALOT of the defects and the things that arent finished. The trim that goes around the bottom of the vynal top isn't on, my side scoops aren't on, my rear valance isn't on, I have no headliner, but I think thats it.

These last few pics are w/o my vinyl top on. So what do you all think?? Oh Dave, I went ahead and put the rest of my car together with the B-Body rear end under it(54" instead of 56 1/2") and by luck it worked. I was so happy.

B-body axle is more narrow?? I would have thought it would have been either the same or wider. So what do I know? Glad it worked out OK. Wheels look nice. What make/model are they?

Nice cars, what engines are in them? Your Dad's Challenger looks real clean, impressed. I will post pictures of my 1974 Rally with 440/727 soon.

The brand of wheels are Eagle Alloy. the style is called 212. The width is 9.5 in the back and 8 in the front. My tires are Nitto 275/50/17 and 225/50/17.

I have a 360 in mine(green) that has been bored and the heads shaved, ported, pollished, and oversized valves put in. It has a Demon carb on it. My dad's has an unrestored stock 318. And my other one(purple) well, goes as fast as I can push it!

Yes dave, I was suprised about the axle width also.

Next project is my trans rebuild(for the second time)and maybe I cand do it right by myself.

I am by far no expert on axels, but looking in my "Chrysler Performance Upgrades" by Frank Atkins the answer is that the B-body 8-3/4 got wider in 1971. Here are the widths for B and E 8-3/4, flange to flange

B body 62-70 55"
B body 71-74 57.8
E body 70-74 56.5

If anyone needs any other axel info, I can look it up in this book for you.

Yes Ted, you are right. I mis-typed. It is an earlier model. It also had left handed threads on one axle. I took them out but I should have known by that. Oh well, I am happy and with the luck I usually have I'm also a little bit suprised.

About 20 years ago I fitted a B body 8 3/4 rear into an E body. That's when I discovered the B body axle is narrower.

You do need to grind off the spring mounting pads and re-weld them a tad further out. But the advantage is better tyre clearance against the rear wheel arch. This is often a good mod' for a E body. It works well.

OK, dave, I'm fed up with my scanners! I just looked at the scan of my car that was done. After I scan the pictures, can I send them to you? will that make it easier on me? It would be beneficial also so they can read the article on the factory sunroof.

BTW- I found an ALL # matching 1970 R/T 440 Six-Pack 4-speed with a dana, 30 min. from my house. It has the scat pac stickers even. Plum crazy with a black top. Im doing my best to get it!

Dave, my car is in the april issue of mopar action. on the bottom of pg. 74 in a group photo. you can see it now.

Von is that a holly pump, Von these pumps work better when grav'ity fed,they push fuel better than they suck. However it's sometimes hard to get the pump lower than the tank.

Hey Von. I have some things to tell you. Im pretty sure that is a Blue fuel pump right? I have one my self on my challenger. THESE SUCKERS ARE LOUD!! You will hear this thing no matter what, I wrapped it in dynomat and it is still as loud as it was before! But the pump does work very well. I was very suprised when I saw you located the pump in front of your rear, that is exactly where I had mine , and yes it did hit the third member when the suspension squat, I had the sucker all the way up there too! And when it hit ,it falls out of the clamp, then bounces around on top of the 3rd member, what a mess. Besides I realized that it's not the right place to put the pump because its actually a little higher than the tank. These pumps should be located as low as possible since there gavity fed. So I ended up fabricating a bracket and mouning it on the divers side , where I guess the stock heat shields would be mounted on 73+ 74 challengers. I'll take a picture in a little bit for you, I have to go get my mittens on B/c its a blizzard outside!Haha, Hope this helps! Nick
