Looks great Jack. I cant believe MoPar would have labeled that block finished! That would have caused a damaged engine for sure and ruined their reputation for the mighty Hemi. Glad you caught it Jack. Smart to test the upper end for the full time oiling on the dual rocker shafts.

Having used quite a few MP parts over the years I can believe it very much.

I've been hearing that all too often lately!! I wonder what the problem is? I never had a bit o problem with my 380/360 5.9 magnum mill. It was cheap, easy to install and fired right up. Others havent been so lucky. :frown: I hope Jack's Hemi turns out as nice as it looks.

FYI - the rocker arm oiling check is done with #1 at TDC for the left side cylinders and #6 at TDC for the right side. While doing this, I also stopped every 90 degrees of the the crank rotation to get oil to all the crank bearings. Hopefully, I'll have it in the car and running in two or three weeks. It's more than an engine swap..... I'm repainting the engine bay while it's empty.

OK, here's an update..... I have the GTX's engine compartment stripped for a repaint, the K frame and front suspension is out for a cosmetic resto as the components are fine. The engine is assembled and waiting on a stand, the transmission ready and so is the iron 11" bell housing. I am waiting for new bolts to put the engine/bell housing/transmission assembly together. The whole unit will go on the K frame and go in from the bottom. The dirty work is almost done! More pictures will get posted as the film gets processed. I have looked for a site like this one for 68-70 Roadrunners and GTXs and have yet to find one as good as this one.

I'm fine with General Chat for a catagory, thanks. I know most of us like all the MOPAR muscle cars, so I've been posting my progress here. I can't just do the engine for the car as I have come across other things I want to do to improve the car while the engine bay is empty. The board monitors may wish to move this thread somewhere else on the board as it becomes more of a full front of car restoration.... all I need to know is where they put it.

Tough staying in tune with all that bouncing going on your avatar JackT. How about moving that to the parts for sale topic? Or maybe dinner and a movie? :)

Must be fun putting it all together. No better time to do the engine compartment though, and don't forget under the hood itself. That's where I scrimped and now regret. Take your time.

I know what you mean Jon.... the underside of the hood was repainted with the rest of the car in Dec 2006. I'm just doing another part of a stepped upgrade of the car as it came to me in 2005. After looking at the K frame and front suspension, I've decided to bring it up to snuff as well....... new engine, new engine bay paint, new restored grille and headlight bezels and a nasty old front end with all that new stuff?? I'll have to bring the undercarriage to the same level or live to regret skipping it, I know.

Thanks Dave! Is there any way to move the content of the "JackT's 68 Hemi GTX" thread from Other Car Photographs to here? It will get everything about this car in one place. If not, it's OK, but it would be nice.
