Thanks Barc that was very interesting reading, 11k years old! They similarities between the Lab are interesting except for the pyrenneese abilities to distinguish between predator/foe and friend. The Lab is purely a servitude breed. I wouldnt want to get bit by one though. The Lab's teeth are made for pulling rope are quite formidable, but it's all in the mindset, and for that, the Great Pyrenneese is a formidable ally

Everything I've read says they get up to 165 lbs or so. The vet thinks he may go closer to two hundred when fully grown. Either way he'll be one heck of a lapdog :lol2:
Eddie, Labs are really cool dogs too. A buddy of mine keeps getting Labs when its time for another dog. I've yet to meet the lab that has an enemy.

Yeah, Barc those Labs are kind gentle dogs. 200 lbs. is incredible and it's all muscle I'm sure! My lab Hershey only weighs 65 lbs. which is almost what Sneakers weighs now! I wouldnt want to ever piss off/intrude upon a Great Pyrennees!

Thought I'd add some updated pictures. Right now he likes to dig (and eat). There are about a dozen or so holes in the back yard. We're trying to keep him from learning to jump that fence behind him but I think it will be a losing battle. When he jumps up on it now, about half of his body is above the fence. He also likes to eat the bushes and sticks :hmmm: He also loves apple skins, not the whole apple just the skin. His other favorite pasttimes are wrestling with me and sleeping :sleepy:

Diggin' Hole's

Some old Codger told me, if I bury Ryley's poop in the hole's he dug, he would quit digging. By God, that guy was right! I know it sound's funny but, it worked a heck of a lot better than me just scolding him alone. Thing is, it was a challenge to find his poop. He's never done that in his own yard. He's got a place under some cedar tree's, in the wood's. Only poopin' scoopin' I've ever had to do with this weird, think's he's smarter than me, dog. Try this out Barc, with a dog that size, you should have no problem finding his own solution.

Great Pyrennees are great dog's from what I hear. I love BIG DOG'S. I once had a Black Lab/New Foundland mix. That dog was 168 lb's, dry. And he didn't like to stay dry at all. He was cool because, he looked like Ryley. Only, SUPER SIZED! :s012:

Some updated photos. Sneakers with his new pal Iggy

My uncle used to have one (I called him the sheep).
He was trained to stand up and put his front paws on visitor's shoulders...
We were trained to stand close to walls.

My uncle's dog used to sit at the end of the table during lunches/dinners, with his mouth open, his chin on the table.
He would eat anything thrown at him. A litter box with a bad breath...

Not sure of the weight right now. We need to get him weighed for his heartworm pills. I know he's somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 lbs. Iggy weighs less than one pound :s024:
