Chrysler has released U.S. sales figures for April of 2009 which show a 48% decrease in sales versus the same period of 2008. Of the few highlights for Chrysler's April sales the Dodge Challenger was among them increasing their sales by 260 units. I know the figure does not seem like much but it's something to build on as Chrysler goes into bankruptcy protection.
Sales of Dodge Challengers for April of 2009 were 2,619 compared to 2,359 from the previous month showing an 11% increase for month to month sales. Dodge did not sell any Challengers in April of 2008 so we have no data to do a current year to previous year comparison. March of 2008 was the first month Dodge started delivery Challengers to buyers so we will have some data to compare for next months post. Year to date Challenger sales are 11,018.
Chrysler started reporting Challenger sales figures in May of 2008 and I went back and collected the numbers for each month just to see what they looked like.
Starting back in May of 2008 there were 71 Challengers sold, June 2008 sales picked up quite a bit with 1,024, July sales nearly tripled to 2,895, August 2008 sales dipped to 2,077, September sales increased a little more then 6% to 2,376, October 2008 sales shot up by more then a 1/3 to 3,014, November 2008 sales increased about 9% to 3,364 and December sales decreased a bit to 2,602.
For 2009 Challenger sales have been steady with January Sales yielding 2,717 and February sales of 3,283, outselling the Ford Mustang by a minimal amount through the first two months of the year.
Below I have arranged the sales in a little more eye pleasing way. Enjoy...
