Dave as 'Uncle Buck' funny story!!lol Barc--Yuppie ILK, Ha Ha Bmw's suck! So are they going to actually make a SCCA or GT version of the new Challenger specifically for Competitive road racing like Team Oreca of France did to the former World Champ Vipers? Didnt they also build 'customer/client' cars that also did very well at 24/Lemans and would be similar in construction with the drag race package? If so, that would be the one I would save my pennies for! Maybe Bob knows something? Also Dave, Barc, Drew or Fabian would know this. Can you drive a car set up for road racing as I assume the above Challneger is, on the street for extended periods? I realise tire wear would be very quick.

It was. To be honest, on the last day, I was happy it was over. I caught a cold after the second day (driving all-out with the windows open), or maybe it was a bug I got just before departure. I've been sick for 2 weeks now and the antibiotics are just sinking in.

I was also wondering at the end if my hearing loss was only temporary, or if it was due to the sickness (looks like the latter, I can hear OK now).

Next year, I'm going to try and plan something more radical, but also shorter : The same guy who organized the France Tour Classic Rally also organized a 'good old' classic hill climbing event.
One day of regularity racing, one day race (on a closed road this time, eh eh).
in a legendary setting for France hillclimbing (also a place where the French champion in 73 é 74 crashed a hemicuda - twice) : Turckheim - Les Trois Epis (here's the setting : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn968W7EwtY ).

Wow. Be careful driving on that one. Very easy to "loose it" on hill climbs.

yes that hill climb would be a great event we used to have 1 here butt it was only about 2 km long more an uphill spint with corners & trees , the trees being the reason its no longer run , the lastt year they held it a guy wrote off his v8 torana on a karri tree (big gum tree) he wasnt hurt but it stopped the event , we sadly lack road race events here in aus its all to over organised these days mainly for pros not much amature stuff at all the charger club hires a track once a year for a day & thats a good fun day out im hoping to have my car ready for next years track day

Eddie, the short answewr would be yes but I wouldn't want to drive one over the long term. With no sound deadening or insulation it would get deafening in no time at all and you;d be uncomfortably hot just driving down the road.
IIRC many of the older road race cars were technically street legal. I believe all Lemans cars were street legal for many years, not sure about recently.

A friend of mine spent part of his youth with his sister in the back seat of a cuda, tucked between a pair of race tires, with mom and dad driving to and from races during the week-ends (did I mention the car has a 6-point rollcage?).

Cars had to be full-stock back then...which means scary stock brakes!

There was also groups for 'modified' cars (usually prototype one-seaters on road-races), I believe the same goes now.
