New Challenger on sale

Postby RedRaven » 08 Dec 2007 18:02

Dodge Challenger Starts at $37,995
SRT8 version goes on sale Monday.

You can satisfy your craving for some Dodge-style musclecar love, but it will cost you-$37,995, to be precise.

Dodge says the new 2008 Challenger will be priced from that point. And more importantly, for those flush with cash, is that the Challenger will go on sale next Monday, December 3, qualifying the Challenger as a 2008 model. Deliveries will happen in spring 2008.

The first Challengers to roll out of Chrysler's Canadian factory will all be SRT8 models, with a 6.1-liter HEMI V-8 pounding out an unnamed level of horsepower (we're betting it's not 200). Each of those first Challengers will get a special plaque to commemorate its status, guaranteeing an eBay auction of epic proportions starting next week.
Three colors will be offered-black, silver and HEMI orange-all decorated with dual hood stripes.

Dodge promises that the Challenger will have resonant styling, a racing-inspired interior, a world-class ride and handling set, benchmark braking, and a standout powertrain.

Pricing for the rest of the Challenger lineup will be announced later.

Is the fuel filler cap located on the left side of the car? (I see that it opens like on Barracudas and Chargers)

In the low-quality pictures in the "Productions pics" thread it shows the right side of the car being without a cap so it's on the left side then. I guess the company tought americans are too lazy to walk all the way to the other side of the car to fill it up these days. =)

I hope the cap makes it into production but dont count on it. I think the designers wanted a smooth body line and the cap would look outta place sticking out that far on a smooth body line. I know this sounds 'childish' but the "flip-top' cap on my car is one reason I bought it.(The big black thing in the middle of the hood was the clincher)

I noticed that the concept car (the one with the cross-grille) pictures dont have a fuel cap on either of the sides so im still waiting on a right side shot of the production model to see how it will look like.

Then I am childish too. Well, I can´t say that I bought the car only for the fuel cap but I like the cap very much.

I wonder would it be possible to mod the prod car and put in your own rear light set up like the one in the concept car..I guess the UK are out of this picture anyway.
