(Allpar exclusive information). Manual transmission versions of the 2009 Challenger R/T and SRT models will offer a feature that has previously only been available on the Dodge Ram, Jeep Commander, Grand Cherokee and the Liberty. The HSA feature assists the driver when starting a vehicle from a stop on a hill by maintaining the same level of brake pressure the driver applied for a short period of time after the foot has been removed from the brake pedal. The system will release the brake pedal in proportion to the amount of throttle applied. If the throttle is not applied within a short period of time after the foot has been removed from the brake pedal, Hill Start Assist will release brake pressure.

Trivia: Studebaker had Hill Start Assist (not by the same name) in 1936.

I guess this is because in the USA you can pass a driving test in an automatic and are allowed to drive a manual after?

In the UK you have to learn and pass in a manual shift because 95% of cars here are manual.

It is possible I think to pass in an automatic here but you are not then allowed to drive a manual.

Dont need starter motors anymore, no steering linkages, self parking capabilities, voice command start/stop with override, auto ejaculators, ect...where will it end?

It will end with no one owning cars. You just collect a communal electric one from a row of them at the end of the street and tell it where you want to go. No need to steer or brake.
Empty cars will automatically fill the gap you left behind in the street.

All the cars will drive at the same speed and the same distance apart. The gap being enough for the cars to be able to cross junctions without stopping at all. The cars will automatically just cross each others path without collisions.

No more accidents. No more traffic jams. No waiting at traffic lights. No getting to work late due to traffic. No trying to find a parking space.

Actually. Rather than bleak as I intended it is starting to sound rather nice. :lol:

Dave thats hilarious! Oh, and it is rather bleak for me/us! How else are you gonna "race" in those things? I predict electric cars will take over, the republican/conservatives wont let that happen though! :twisted:
