Anybody bidding on the new Challenger on E Bay? This is the #2 car that is to be built. They say limited production. I hope they do not intend to limit the production on all Challengers. I hope to be able to afford one in 2009.

According to what I have heard Bob, the Dodge Challenger is a limited production car specifically built or limited production due to it not having an economy model such as fords v-6 mustang. It will be offered with 2 engines. An 5.7 and SRT 6.1 or 6.4 dont know which. It's going to have special production runs. This isnt going to be a "bread and butter" vehicle like there minivan or Trucks which they cant build quick enough.

Thanks for posting Fal308, so they ARE going to eventually make an "economy" model? I think thats economically necessary in these financially difficult times,(U.S. Auto industry). I for one will never be able to afford one,(6.1 Hemi). I think after the 'novelty' wears off a bit. Most vintage muscle car enthusiasts will still desire the older models :?: I could be wrong however. The other day a couple of new V-8 mustangs were parked in front of the restaurant, I saw them both. I dont remember the colors. Is it because the are becoming all to common or I'm losing my mind. Again. :wink2:

Don't know about an economy model but it looks like the SXT will be the base model.
And yes, you've lost your mind again. But don't ask me to help you find it. I have to get my beauty sleep soon so I can go to work tonight.
Maybe try looking whereever it is that you put stuff that you know you'll never use (like chebby or furd parts that people give away)? :lol2:

Fal the sxt is what I meant by an economy model. I've lost my hair, half my original teeth, all my bravery, might as well lose my mind along with it all, LOL!!

Well the final price was $175,407,07. I hope that this price is not an example of the dealer markup on the new models when they finally arrive. I would love to have one but I will not pay MSRP let alone any dealer markups. I think Dodge has a winner of a car if they build it with quality and price it reasonably. :D

Just my 2 cents worth.

It will be. It better be if they are to 'survive' against the new Camaro(08?), and current Mustang in all it's iterations. wow 175k!

I might be behind but, what ever happened to M.D.S., the Multi Displacement System, where you only use as much engine as you need theory. You know, your cruisin' down the Freeway using four cylinder's, major M.P.G. Then you light up the rest of the Hemi when you want some real power! Major M.P.H.! :s003: Pat

I dont think they will use that system in the new Challenger Pat. From what the guys say on DT about street racing the Hemi in trucks/cars with the MDS is it slows the vehicle down and the piggyback or power controllers dont like em.

Yeh but, Hey, there's the "economy" model. MDS! I talked to a manager at a dealership in "The Dalles", Oregon, a couple of month's ago. He said, April, 2008 is the date. Didn't say what day. All the dealer's are bidding on them. Sound's like limited production for sure. :( Oh, I didn't talk to the dealer guy about MDS. He had a 73 Cuda' W/340. Got lost in that. Forgot about the new one. I had parked my car next to his on the side lot. That would have been a good Pic. too! :ashamed:

There is an 08 challenger site that has the actual countdown down to the seconds! I dont have it filed sorry. I could have sworn it said Feb. 2008! It doesnt matter however I wont be able to buy anything. It's going to seem kinda weird seeing them. From a distance they will appear "spooky" because they look so similar to the 1970's cars. Around here, vintage MoPars are very very rare!

When the 08 Dodge Challenger comes to the dealership, is there anyone interested in the dealer promo items that accompany a new car when it's released with all the fanfare the 08 Challenger is going to bring? I could probably get some/all items when this happens at my Local Dodge Dealership. What should I ask and look for? Are these going to be collectable?

I spoke with Mike Tom the owner of Vigo Dodge,(Our local Dodge Dealership), Terre Haute, Indiana where I live. He said they were gettting two,(2), 08 Dodge Challengers. He asked me if my name would be on the window sticker of a new one,(Chrysler places the customer name on the window sticker if ordered as per standard practice for those that didnt know that), I told him if he would allow me at least 10k on my 1990 Dodge Truck,(Sorry Barc), and sell the car to me at cost, I would make it happen. He just smiled.(it's a fantasy) BTW, my 1990 truck is 'only worth' according to the banks, 1200.00! I have that much in wheels&tires Damn!

Eddie, Are you going to display your Challenger at the dealer when the new one arrives?

Less than 100 days left.

I thought I told you. Yep, The dealer asked me if I would let them "have" the car for a day or two, and of course I agreed. They are going to make a T.V. commercial with my car in it and the new 08 Challenger. He also told me about the requisition of the 2 Challengers he was promised by the region's manager. You know something Bob, there is a dragstrip across the street from dealership, it's right next to where your soccer players played that day. You think they would take advantage of that for marketing their SRT product line. I could be manager, it would be great, all their cars on the tarmac even minivans
