Yea well that is 30 years from now I will be 82 and probably wont be able to drive it anyway, so the time is now come on Ed you should do it!

My retirement fund is earning negative amounts. I'm seriously thinking about cashing the bitch in and ordering a Sublime HellCat, 6-Speeder loaded with every option I can get,, then putting it up under a car cover in my climate controlled shop as an investment. My family and friends all say I'm MAD, ,Ignorant,,stupid, and don't know what I'm doing and that I need to prepare for my old age or worse yet a nursing home. I wont invest in the stock market,,I think it's gonna crash bigtime in the next year or so. I feel 26 and still think the same way as I did in my Teens. Thank God!!

LT4 engine in the 2015 Z06 has been SAE-certified as producing 650 HP and 650 lbs/ft of torque.

Which makes it the most powerful car GM have ever produced and is only beaten in power by the Ferrari LaFerrari, the McLaren P1, the Porsche 918 Spyder, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, the Lamborghini Aventador and the Ferrari FF.

According to Chevy, 457 pound-feet of torque is available at idle, while 96 percent of peak torque arrives by 2,800 rpm.

Isnt the Vette supercharged,(it has to be to match the normally aspirated V-10's power), and only exceeds a normally aspirated MoPar engine by about 1.8% big deal! Hang a hair dryer on the V-10 and then see what the power diff is between the 2!!! BTW,,this was a post covering the Hellcat engine NOT the Vette!! not taking anything from the Vette,,,BUT if you wanna talk apples to apples,,then the HellCat cant be discounted,,no one but Ma MoPar knows what it's really gonna make! Yet My school instructor has a new Z06 Vette,,it's been in the shop more than the road,,2 rearends failed, chassis problems ect ect ect..

Just a note,,,Dave,,your Car is a wonderful Machine,,Quick,,smooth, carves corners well. I'm not a Corvette hater or a GM anti this and that. I am a Chrysler loyalist, from birth to death. They are both capable machines and operate far beyond 95% of most drivers abilities. I'll never own either. If I bought a new Machine it would be a Sublime HellCat.

I thought the Fiat Hellcat was supercharged Eddie? That is what I was comparing the GM engine with.

Of course Fiat have still got time to try and squeeze a bit more power out of it. And of course the Challenger is probably about 50% heavier than the Corvette.....

Sorry Dave,,mis-understood. Yeah,,The new 650 HP Corvette is a level ahead of the HellCat and much lighter. Of course it's probably 2 times the cost. My prediction on the HP level of the HC is 670.

I think it needs to be like 670hp so fingers crossed. "Bigger is better" has always been a big part of the American mentality and underlines brand loyalty.

I am starting to drift away from the more power is better way of thinking.

I think I am getting something like 330 rwhp in my Vette. Because I am driving on the "wrong" side of the road I have to hang back a bit from the car in front on our narrow roads in order to see ahead. When it's clear I can accelerate to overtake and it is quick and safe.
BUT. I am going from 55-95mph before I even get past the car in front. Enough to wave goodbye to my licence for 1 to 3 years. If there are two cars to go past I will be going something like 110mph before I pull back in. I could go to jail for that!

I really do not see the need for more power than that on a road car.

Holy Frijoles! What the hell happened to that new Vette? Yes,,Dave that Hennesy Vette and the Vette engine sports car they build that set a world record is very impressive! Yeah Dave,,any newer Vette or Viper has way more power that I could ever use. The same applies over here of course. The coppers catch you exceeding 120 MPH which even a Citroen can do,,,you be in Jail a long time where you can broaden yer horizons and meat new friends!

I forgot this story my brother Buzz had a 70 340 orange, black bumble bee stripe ,black in (bad ass car) chally ,and he and my 90 year old grandpa Orville ,he was in to cars so it was all good,

so buzz in a residential neighbor hood 25 mph zone wants to show off, he fries em and gets the thing up to 80 mph and sure enough a cop has radar on em, pulls em over my grand pa was beggin the cop not to be to hard on him, the cop says "you are lucky I dont throw him in jail sir"my granpa replies "we were just goin to get some candy" the cop says "whats your hurry"????

my grand pa shut up after that
