how long you been bird watching tig :lol: looks awesome, also brings it home how much bump steer you get when it drops, how do you keep your hands on the wheel it looks so violent in slow mo. what time did you run ? thanks for posting the vid :thumbsup:

Hi

The vids are by Blackett photography if you do a google search you'll find him. I think he's the official santa pod photographer. It's a really good tool, if you'd asked me I would have thought we were almost dead hookin :shock: We had a best 60ft of 1.39 at this meeting (we've done 1.51 on the back wheels and 1.37 before 8) )

Dave r: No Rubber bushes here :s001: . We have adjustable tubular uca's on heim joints, Alloy adjustable struts also on heim joints (at the "K" end). The only poly bush is in the lca. Figure it needs a good set up. We got +5 castor, 0 camber and 1/32 toe in @ +1 ride height but the hub arms where heated to bend them up when I had a different set up. Car is stable at speed but cross winds will effect it. Best MPH is 142.5 and @ 3830lb race weight approximates to a 850ish HP motor. Thanks for putting them on the MMA site :thumbsup:

Jim it feels like the wheel hardly moves, I know it shakes but it's all over quick in real time :lol: . Think I'll be replacing the steering box and the drag link idler arm over winter. I really need to get the chassis sorted before the procharger goes on. Though tagging it to 7.50 is a whole different ballgame :roll: .

Oh and if here's some slomo of Paul Rossi's old superstock challenger it does the same thing. Apparently it's a common problem with stock style mopar suspension. The only way to truly eliminate it is to go to a coil over strut front :cry:

That lower control arm is twisting all over the place. I would have thought the alloy struts and poly lower bush would keep the LCA stable but obviously it does not.
Maybe it is the LCA itself that is twisting? Weld a brace along the bottom?

Bottom LCA was welded up years ago :D . The wheel shakes in your hands on touch down, if you watch the wheels they steer left and right correctly, the tyres flex too. I really am unsure as to what is actually happening :? .
The mopar chassis book tells you how to chart the toe and what to do to correct it. On you tube search for the video, "4 days in May". Lots of Superstock mopars on there, some but not all, do the same as mine.
I was talking to a well known chassis guy at the weekend on the work involved upgrading to 7.5 spec. Basically it means cutting out the old cage and the floor of the car to to fit the correct bars :( . Also it has to be chrome moly tubing now to meet the spec, no more CDS. Though older cars, if currently tagged, can pass in leiu of grandfather laws. Correct spec chrome moly tubing is around £100 per metre. :shock:
If your car runs an et below spec, twice, it's instantly banned from any MSA / FiA meeting until it is recertified to the correct spec. Talk about harsh :s005:

It's just an option Dave, nothing definite as yet. The more logical one would be to import a 7.5 or even a FiA 25.1 spec chassied car from the states :wink: . In the meantime, I can still have some fun in the Challenger with some sort of supercharged motor in it though :lol: and there's always the old 528 motor sitting in the garage 8)

Yeah most of us have the odd 528 or two kicking around in the garage. Always tripping over the bloody things. :lol:
