Eddie's new DustPan

Postby Eddie » 18 Aug 2010 18:51

I have a chance of buying this 1976 Plymouth Duster for a grand. It looks a lot worse than it is,,I think, there arent any serious rust issues. It came from the San Francisco Bay area and was owned by a lady, it had a 318 with 3 Speed manual,(odd selection?), and has I think a 8.75 rear, I couldnt see because it was sitting on flat tires and the ground prevented me from getting underneath too far to see if it was a Banjo style rear. It now has a 360 LA engine and thats the only change I see. The windshield is MIA, the Dash needs help. It does have front disc brakes, big balljoint A-Arm so a swap to Cop Car rotors would be simple,(11.75), and 15" Cop Car wheels which I have a set. I am thinking of placing the 500 cube lowdeck in it and giving it a quickie paint job, new suspension with a Moog Kit. Keep the manual setup and sell the 360. Put a Keisler 5 Speed in it's place ect I want to do this without spending too much,,only where I need to, paint it white. Let me know what you guys think?? Too many issues? Thanks

I think since it's set-up for a manual I could leave it a manual car, sell the 360 and TorqueFlite I bought after rebuilding it to 5 clutch Hemi specs with a good quality kit and both would give me the cash for paint&body supplies. I'm gonna do the work myself even though I despise paint and body work. White 'hides' mistakes right?

Less hassle to run your engine with the auto trans. The manual box will be a pain.

Stuff that motor in it with the auto and sell the rest,

and get some hiway girders for bumpers that will look better than those cruise ship bumpers it has now  :s024: :s024: :s024:

Some inspiration for you.

http://www.moparuk.com/forums/viewtopic ... 375#296375

Blue's A-Body has had so much weight taken out of it you have to tie it down in strong winds.

He has cut holes in everything. Anything the car does not need has gone. Anything that could be lighter is drilled or re-produced in aluminium, plastic, or fibreglass. It has an Altercation front end.

Carb problems kept it away from the Nats this year but hopefully it will be out and about soon.

Wow, Dave that 68 Dart is incredible, holes in the keys,,damn, I passed on the Ruster. It was too much for me to handle. I took a guy who does bodywork for a living, he said the 1/4's were filled with mud, the rearend is a weak 7 1/4 or 8 1/4, the dash is junk the entire car needs wiring, new interior ectt either way no big block duty for either. Looks like it's back to looking for a E-Body. :s006:

OK OK, Jeez! I sold my old Dodge 4X4, paid off my trailer, I am buying Phil's 1973 Challenger! I spoke to the Loan dept. at my Bank. I am getting the loan no problem just waiting for the paperwork to go thru. It's a Roller, no engine or tranny. But most importantly,, NO RUST! The price is very reasonable for a roller with a perfect body. Only in Denver baby!! My 617 HP stroker, 5 Speed Keisler or Passon manual box, big brakes, 17" wheels and modern rubber. 8.75 with front&rear sway bars,,ectt It's not gonna be a show machine,, a road trip Rallye car that everyone can enjoy. Oh the best part? It's white!!! I hope to pick the car up in Denver this next month,,we just got 1 inch of solid ice and am expecting 12-16 inches of snow on top of that. Cmon spring!!!!! :s003:

Maybe 10-16 inches of snow,, and it knocked out our phone lines,,still have power. I have a 2000 Watt Generator,, 10 gallons of water,, Dodge Diesel 4X4, food,, plenty of Porn. In the picture, I sold the Black one,,still own the blue one.

Thanks Jimi, we average about 8 inches TOTAL for the winter months and will get that tonight with over an inch or 2 of solid ice.. It's very mild here until Jan/Feb. but I cant complain since everwhere else has gotten hammered WAY worse than here!! Europe, Pakistan, Australia ect,, plus this is "childs play" to guys like Drew, Seth, AMC Jim ectt they have -8 F. degrees actual with -18 F. wind chill right now! But in Denver it's supposed to be 50 F this weekend! Pat gets a shitload of Rain in the 'Gorge'(Pacific Northwest). The '73-74 Challengers are really sweet, I like the almost flush grill and the taillight area isnt all that bad. They make excellent Street Machines or OEM stock look, either way you cant go wrong. Sorry Jimiboy,,no pics right now, but as soon as I get them I will post it here!
