Eddie's "Heavy Chevy"

Postby Eddie » 04 Apr 2010 18:06

My Aunt who is 94, fell and broke her Hip. She is now unable to drive anymore so she called me and told me to come pick her 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne up. It has 68,467 original miles. 235CID six with a wicked one barrel and 2 speed PowerGlide. She has called almost everyday since I picked it up 7 days ago. I wont sell it until she has gone. But I cant keep it outside in the elements so I found a place to keep it. Enjoy,,p.s. the young girls used to 'shy' away from me ,,,NOW they run for cover,,I guess I look deviate er something in this ol pile? :?

My father and my Aunt went to Swingley Chevrolet here in Terre Haute back in 1962 and had to special order the car! This car has only a heater. They had other models that were cheaper and had more options, but she didnt want ANY of that! So she ordered the Biscayne with radio delete and only a heater.

Something happened a long time ago to the cars paint, there is overspray around the window trim, all for a coupe of small scratches! She paid over $4,000 for that one! When she told me I almost got sick,,she was fleeced bigtime, she also paid over $2,000 to stop an oil leak! The car has NO Emissions equipment and the crankcase breather accumulated fumes over time and dripped a few drops of oil from time to time on the floor of her garage. She knows Nothing about how an automobile works so they took her bigtime again!

Thanks for the advice Pat&Drew I think I'll wait for a while, before I make a decision like that. I'm NOT a G.M. person never have been one. If I installed an engine into it ,,it would of course be a MoPar 'plant'. :wink2: Drew a 'Shivy' just aint my style either Bro! This thing feels like it's gonna tip over at any speed faster than a 'jog' around the corners. It's got typical junk coils in the back and front but a full frame! What the hell was Generic Mortars thinkin?
