I have finally bought one more of my dream cars... :P

No american muscle here,
But really nice german performance.. with loads of road feeling and nice comfort...

It's an Sport equipped Audi A8 -97
4.2 Liters :V8: with 300Hp
5 speed Tiptronic Automatic transmission
4 wheel drive 50/50%

If you step on the gas hard from 56Mph, i promise you.. the car is up in 137Mph before you have counted to 5 seconds.. :biggrin:
(Of course this is no sportscar, i may sound a bit overstated, but i am really happy & satisfied with the overall feeling and performance) :D
Good "performance" due to the fact it is quite a big car.. (1890Kg) the body is 100% aluminium... :D

I recently tinted the windows... 6% backdoors and backwindow, 22% front side window.. if that should be to light in a bright summer day, there are curtains inside, back doors windows and backwindow... =)

Them tires are way to small.. it's supposed to be 18" but these wheels are only 17" & the snow tires are way to small profiled.. the car sits unnecessary low for winter useage & it gets bumpy... I guess 16" and higher profile, or these 17" with higher profile would work better...
but the traction.. hmmm.. do it is 4wd it's quite good grip, it's really quick if needed! as long as you don't step on it... Then you loose the grip on all 4 wheels :lol:

Yeah, it's really quite also.. ("double glasses") This is the nicest winter ride i have ever had, easy! :thumbsup: Very happy! :D

Very Nice Jimi! I remember watching the Audi's clean the track at the 24 Hours of Lemans in the Factory Sportscar class a few years ago. They are a very well engineered car!

Lovely car. :s002:

I really do like the Audi's. Favourite sleeper is the RS6 (saloon version), but an A8 would make for an excellent consolation prize. Love those alloys too!

They were factory sportscar prototypes,, race only, Audi A-8's I think? They usually own any racetrack they touch!!!

(Loved the test on tv up here, the reporter that tested (drifted) the car said that "there is no problem at all to burn down the tires completely on the track, on just a few minutes..") :lol:

about those wheels, haha, on these "newer" cars, there is so much air in the fender, that 18-19" looks small actually.. (18" is factory size) i think it´s kind of the same problem with the new Challenger.. if you don´t lower the chassie enough, they need a bit bigger wheels then would have been enough on the old Challys... :P
I do want some wider rims next time do.. those 235´s look thin when i have 22" (should been 255 at least, but maybe 275) 8)

Yeah, it´s the Avant i like aswell :) (I have always thought Audi should have made A8 /S8 as an estate aswell... it would really have been a fat wagon :P )

haha, yes! Totally agree... But, i like the models before... "2003" ? because of the big grille they tend to design these days.. :roll:

Think I'm with you there Jimi. The later design looks a bit aggressive. The pre- 2003 models tend to blend in a little better. Still tunable to 600+hp though. :s002:

By intake, you mean port the heads or? It´s so damn easy to get horses by just map the computer and mixture with turbo pressure on turbo engines... Imagine how much work it takes with a no turbo engine...

Sorry Jimi, my poor English. :wink:

By intake I mean the airbox (air filter) and associated plumbing. On most modern cars it's restrictive and heavy. By fitting a better filter with a good heat shield it free's up the air flow into the engine, thus allowing the turbo's to breath/ spool quicker. I think the remap's for the RS6 that I've seen enable quicker boost, more boost, better timing, de-restrict the 155mph limiter, firm up the shifts, improve fuel economy and several other factors. The only downside is if Audi find out you've nullified your Warrenty. Not a problem if you prefer the pre- 2003 cars. :s002:

Naaahh, Your right about that, I think its more fun to stick with an older version RS6 with no warranty... That you can play around without getting worried about warranty and stuff...

Heeeyy, they are not that expensive really... http://www.blocket.se/stockholm/Audi_RS ... ca=1_9&w=3 this one for sale in Sweden costs about $30.000
Not bad for a 450Hp beast! :) I wonder how much the tuning will cost, any ideas of that Tim?

Yeah, thats possible.. i know i have seen it, but have forgotten the story...

& that video "transporter 2" aswell? not so "credible", but yet entertaining... :D (i think it was that title, when he drive that car most of the film... doing the most unatural stunts)

Sorry Jimi, just caught up with your posts.

As Dave has shown, an older/ modified RS6 can be had for £8-£10k GBP. A nice low- miles model can be had for around £12k GBP.

I had some details somewhere of re- map Companies. I'll dig them out and post the links for you.

I think the biggest cost with the older cars is the suspension system will need replacing. It was a complex air- balancing system from the factory, but does not last. Needs replacing with good quality conventional coilsprings and shocks. Look at about £2k GBP for the whole system fitted.
