Nothing wrong with your car either, Hezzel. Have you owned it for a long time? When was that photo taken?

christer, i have owned it from 1989 ,.Bought it from Steffes Speed Shop in Mariestad . Picture taken 1989-90.

I bought mine from Karlskoga, not far from Mariestad. So easy to buy (if you got the money) and so hard to sell without beeing afraid that you will regret it afterwards, right? :D

Everything I've read agrees that Hemis and 440+6s got torque boxes. I've also read where some convertibles got them. Also I read conflicting articles on 440s and T/As (AARs) getting them.
Were the torque boxes part of the mandatory Hemi suspension package?

There is no dispute here. All Challenger 440s (4bbl and 6bbl), all Hemis and all convertibles got the torque boxes. Period.
If there is the odd one existing without them then that is a mistake. But I have not seen or heard of any.

The point of them was to counter some of the massive torque from the engine that would twist the body.

Something you small block and 383 owners don't have to worry about. :P

It reminds me of a slogan from Mopar muscle club here in Sweden (I used to be a member of this club. It does not exist any more.): Everything below 7 litres (426") is starting engines. The people around me use to remind me of that slogan from time to time.

To be honest I am quite pleased with having a 383". The short stroke makes it hi-revving and I like that kind of engine. A dream I have is to build an engine from scrach starting with a 400" block.

Christer, Dave, I am building a 512 Stroker with a 400 Block. I e-mailed Brandon and asked him about his new Alloy Heads available Feb. 2008 for 899.00 complete ready to run pair. He replied that he will be swamped with orders and requested name and contact number. I obliged. These are almost identical to the Edelbrocks but maybe better for a 'stealth' engine due to the ends appearing as cast iron, not flat milled like the eddies. You might keep this in mind, I think it cant be beat for the money. 290 CFM@.500-.600 most street cams are in this range. 330 CFM with porting.

The E.F.I. would be cool but I'm talking stock looking 440 SixPack but with 512 cheater cubes in a low deck package painted Hemi Orange with stock looking aircleaner and valve covers.

There are a couple of companies that make/made an EFI that looked like a vintage Hillborn unit. Can you imagine a 528 Hemi with those Hillborn stacks through the hood on your average daily driven 9-second '65 Sport Fury?
