1970 Convertible Hemi Challenger at Infineon

Postby JackT » 07 Aug 2006 0:04

I was lucky to see this car at MOPARs North of the Gate in June..... one of five 426 Hemi 4-speed 1970 Challeger R/T convertibles ever made. There were 9 in all.... 4 more were made with automatic transmissions.

If that is the only one done in lime green then I have seen that car myself when it was over here in England.

How come it has a SHAKER on it. There were no 70 Hemi Challenger converts made with a Shaker hood . ? I wonder if it's the real deal or just another fake . If I had a million dollar car I would not have changed a thing , All that aside nice car.

Actually I didn't correct this before but it seems like a good time now.

There were 9 US ordered hemi convertibles

But there were also 3 made for Canada.

Now I'm sorry I didn't get a pic of the fender tag, but I believe the car was correct. I will check further when I see it again.

I know this post is really old but what did you guys find out? Did they make any N-96 1970 Dodge Challenger's in a convertible? I could have swore that Roger Gibson restored a Hemi 70 convertible Challenger that was N-96. It's currently for sale at 450k. Cheap for a 1 of 9 USA built car. Here is one of the nine, I was wrong it has the "two scoops raisin bran hood"!

I did not make the MOPARs North of the Gate show this year as it conflicted with my youngest son's graduation from UC Santa Cruz, so I did not get to check the fender tag..... maybe next year.

Sounds great Jack! I wished I had completed mine. Then again, it wouldnt have done me any good. I have a B.S. in Criminology and an A.S. in Electronics, and an A.S. in Automotive Tech. I am thinking about going back to school this fall. I want to learn Manufacturing and especially Computer Numerical control,(C.N.C.).
