European Cannonball run

Postby 72 Challenger (Hans) » 01 Jan 2004 13:43

Anybody know something about this run taken place in Europe the last couple of years?

It's some sort of a long distance race (say like 1500-2000miles) from one place in europe to another for the rich people I believe. I read somewhere it takes a couple of grants to participate so most cars running this 'race' are mostly like ferrari's / porsches / lambo's / amg's and so on. Running sometimes over 250kph getting 'tickets' everywhere from polices, especially in the more poor countrys with corrupted policemen etc.

Not a real race as they're all racing at day and partying together at night. Just saw some material about it on television (Ab Moteurs) but as I don't understand French I just have to guess what they say.

Anyway, was wondering if anybody know's something about this.

Thanks Gryphon!

I thought it only took place in europe, but a couple of years ago it took place in the USA also. Nice part of it is that only 150 cars may participate so only the most special (and friends of organisation) cars are there to run.

Would be nice to do something like that with a Hemi 4-speed eh... Oh NO, fuel consumption (3000miles I just read) and entrance money (8000GB ~ 11000$) would kill me. Although a VIP treatment during circuit races and partying with the king of Marocco are something not-every-day.

I saw that on T.V. the other night. Johnny knoxville of the dukes hazzard movie and Steve-O of JackAss were participants. Dealing with the former warsaw pact countries was interesting and expensive. Otherwise it looked like a great time. Wish I had money I would do something like that for sure.
