I'm there tomorrow afternoon to try a d get a load of runs in, but I'm not camping over till Saturday.
Was gonna take me Ram dayvan and kip in that but I felt some play in the steering drag link today and it got worse in the few miles I did in it so I'm not gonna risk driving it, even just for 50 or so mile round trip.
Second time its failed, the boots split and the steering arm joint is proper fucked
Got a nice 4 man tent tho and its gonna be very warm and humid so I think I'll be sat out in the moonlight with a bottle of wine and the silhouette of some fine muscle cars

Mad busy this mornin and didn't arrive at the track till 1.30 so signed on and got a few runs in even tho fire up lanes were really packed. Very hot and humid, got no traction, 2.25 60 foot ones but still ran 13.5 at 104 and I know on a cooler day and with slicks and the headers uncorked I'd be straight in the 12's so pretty happy.
Still runnin an Edelbrock 750 too, may try the 850 speed demon tomorrow.
Remember Andy Robinson Drew? Finally got his Coronet in the 9's
There's a Superbird rep there just made its first showin and blasted off a mid 9 at 145 on 10" slicks

Hopefully make it there Saturday, camping overnight until Sunday midday. Not, sadly, in the Challenger as the starter motor decided to fail during the week, not to mention the fuel leak I found from the sender unit when I filled the tank... it just wasn't going to happen! Hopefully the car will make it next year, meanwhile, I'll be in the Mondeo....

My mate Andy Robinson finally got into the 9s at the weekend. I think he ended up with a best of 9.85 at 137mph or something?

Pretty good for a N.A. street car with leaf springs and full interior trim. Although the B1 Megablock engine is a total pig on the street to be honest.

That is to be expected ,I feel realistically 12 sec car is about the max for a true street car any faster it just is not practical, but still Andys car looks street able :D

BTW Ade your looks very cool and unique with those wheels :D

I agree with that mostly Drew, but daveman was gettin really low 12's, even the odd late 11 and his car was quite streetable. I reckon with aluminium heads, modern ign and roller cam you can have a very friendly mid 11sec car even on treads that is a breeze to run and maintain.
Yeah I luv them wheels too and I'm amazed how many peeps like em........... I was honestly waitin for loads of derisory comments when I installed em

Yea at sea level it is a bit easier to creep in the 11,s but here I dont know anyone that drives their 11 sec street car to the track like Dave did ,so kudos to Dave and anyone else that has done it

My next door neighbor picked this up for a paltry 3k he took it out to a newly paved road got it up to 186 then the big bro engine shut down happened, it just slowly went away and the it comes back ever so slowly but this thing will do some fast 1/4 mile time eh?

There used to be a guy that daily drove his 8 sec '65 Vette around St Louis. I've seen it on the highways around here and on the street. It was hard to miss; screaming yellow, monster blower sticking thru the hood, some monster steamrollers out back with wheelie bars etc.
I've also seen him carry the front wheels off the ground 3/4 down the track (like a tractor puller) while pulling eights.
Don't know if the car is still around though, that was over ten years ago.

You could build a twin turbo Mopar that would run a lot quicker than 12s and still drive well on the street.

But 250 miles to the track on busy roads is asking a lot.

Easier and cheaper just to buy a 10 year old Corvette Z06 and stick a supercharger on it. Low 11s all day long with no sweat. But where is the fun in that?

The twin turbos would be really nice especially here at altitude ,the biggest problem we have here is the heat ,they get so dam hot and then fail .

so again the vette thing would work well we all know that, but yea not much fun there ,My neighbor had a blown vette running 9,s and yes he has the time slip, but no way that thing would work on the street,as a matter of fact he did drive it to a cruise back when gas was actually gasoline , but the thing would load up he would have to take it out on the hiway blow it out come back cruise a bit and then out again ,and the next day plug change,so how practical is it, we see them but do they really drive em......all day? probably not.

I do know of a car I rode in and saw turn 11.4 1/4.......All wheel drive Nissan GTR but again pretty ugly car and what fun is that?
