Yes fal308, they usually let them congregate on the banking for photo's and a drive , don't know if they did this time, Dave will fill us in

There is only a few hundred yards of the track still owned by the Brooklands Museum. When clubs are invited to show there, they allow up to 30 cars on the track for a photo oppertunity as in my photos. This has been a free service up until now but lately they have been charging clubs £10 per car to do this.

However I understand that we were waved that charge on this occasion. Don't tell the other clubs.

That Brooklands track/museum is really a cool looking place,do they still use the track?

Drew the track was closed at the start of WW2 and became a aircraft factory for the war effort. It never re-opened as a track. Very little of the original track remains. Some of it was destroyed by Greman bombing. One part of it is now a housing estate!

However presenter James May from Top Gear managed to recreate the full length Brooklands using Scalextric track and cars.

This was undertaken with a team of 350 volunteers building the track from an uncounted number of pieces of Scalextric track, navigating ponds and roads, closely following the route of the old Brooklands track. This event broke the Guinness World Record for the longest ever Scalextric track in the world, intended to measure the original 2.75 miles (4.43 km) of the original Brooklands circuit but in reality recording 2.95 miles (4.75 km) in length (due to the need to navigate modern features that block the original course). The episode was shown on BBC2 on 17 November 2009 as part of James May's Toy Stories.

Wow Seth is misinformed,He thought is was still used ,
maybe he is stuck in a time machine,
still a very cool place ,I will have to tell him Top Gear used it for a sextrack,oh I mean a scalextric

Thanks for the great photos Dave! I would love to try and drive some of those old racers. Those '20s and '30s cars were/are so cool and such a handful. Vintage cars and planes are some of my other passions (and hobbies if I ever win the lottery )
As an aside, one of the small airports here hosts one of the largest groups of vintage planes in the USA.
