Funny enough I liked them too as a kid when they came out (early 70s?) because they looked so futuristic (by 70s standards) and could have come straight out of a Science Fiction TV show.

In reality of course they were a pile of shite.

Actually that is probably unfair of me. Snigger.

Well obviously my ambition was to eventually own one of those 3-wheelers but I had to settle for a Challenger instead.

But maybe one day....

I am sure that must be a joke but maybe it depends on knowing what "Sure Tip" means?? :?

Ahhhh it is a joke i went to my tire dealer one time and asked him for a deal on tires and he said we have "sure pop specials" , so sure tip over is what i was thinking,

did i see an episode of top gear with one of those cars and one of the hosts couldent make it around a corner down a hill? is this the same car?

and man that had to be hard setteling for some yank iron with those stylish cans running around :s024:

No that was a different company (Reliant) making those ones on Top Gear and in reality they were not that easy to tip over. You had to be going around corners bloody hard and fast to get one rear wheel up but they almost always sat back down again when you backed off or straightened out due to their very low center of gravity.

Top Gear must have modified their car to tip over easily for comical reasons. You have to take everything on that show with a big pinch of salt.

When I was a teenage apprentice we had to do recovery duty and one day we had to pick up a Reliant Regal ( surefire futire classic) that had rolled in the snow, it was so badly damaged that the roof was torn off in the wind on the 10 minute journey back to the workshop
and yes, Top Gear is crap :x

Drew, these cars are called "Bond Bugs". The Bond motor company was bought by Reliant so these cars were produced by Reliant but still retained the "Bond" branding. More info here............

Woburn is the very grand stately home that hosted the classic car meeting.

They were very very cheap to run. Back then 60mpg was very rare with anything else resembling a car. They were also cheap to insure and the road tax fee was cheaper too.
Because they were classed as Tricycles you could even drive one without a full driving licence.

For working class families like mine it was very difficult to own a car. But you could get your wife and kids into a Reliant Regal saloon or Supervan (the panel van equivalent) and take them out to the beach or to the countryside at the weekends.
