NEC Classic Motor Show

Postby dave-r » 17 Nov 2009 11:38

Had the Challenger on display at the UKs biggest classic car event at the weekend. The Challenger drew a lot of attention and I did my best to talk to as many people as possible about Challengers and the Hobby as most of the "Classic" crowd here do not know much about American stuff.

A mate of mine took these photos which are a great deal better than mine.

PHOTOS.

The guy that ownes this polished stainless steel Bugatti Veyron bought the original version first but HAD to have this polished version as well when it came out despite the fact it is 2.5 times more expensive. He now uses the normal one as his "run-around".

Yeah. But like many people I think it was a stunt and driven into the lake on purpose.

Camera phone video of the end of the car show. A lot of it is out of focus due to it being just a cell phone but it is interesting anyway.

The loud overpowering noise is a traditon at this show where at the end everyone sounds their horns. It is deafening.

The tyre squeal is me leaving.

Is that a reference to the colour my car looks in the photos Jon?

The lighting in the halls there is very strange. It is a very green light with a mixture of fluorescent and natural light thrown in. It plays havoc with camera white balance and even professional photographers struggle with it.

There was another young Polish guy living in Manchester who was very interested to talk to me at the show too.
His name is Radoslaw Kozlowski and he owns this nice 1973 Dodge Dart back home in Poland.

Yes my bad. I should have known, although there is a stranger in the driver seat and it wasn't your wife. (or Billy  .)

Welcome aboard guys from the Polish country. Mopars seem to be worldwide nowadays. Dave and the other members know quite a bit about the brand (and life in general) so ask away.

I think that one is the only six cylinder one in the UK. Not the "six pack" version though (3x twin choke side drafts) although he is putting the bits together to make it one.

It is back in Australia now though I think? They are worth very little over here so it makes financial sense to buy any here and re-sell them in Oz.

The six cylinder one on our club stand with us was originally in an Austrailian museum which closed down and the current owner was working over there at the time so he bought it and shipped it back here.

There were a few hundred 318 V8 versions sold over here back in the day but I don't think there can be more than a dozen still in existance. My old one certainly isn't.

A couple of photos taken by a Ferrari owner at the show. He was taken by the Challengers body shape and lines.
