There is nothing more I would love to do Wayne. But a I have a plan and it involves buying another Challenger! I found the perfect body! No, not that kind of body  But a trip overseas IS in the plan but not till another few years for me mate. I think the Irish/UK/Yank GoldField reunion is a priority for me at this point in time. I need to get a couple of things sold, buy that Chally body, install my engine I built, and get my lazy ass to work getting it together for the VP re-union! I only have 11 months :hmmm:

yea dont sweat it i have a track 25 mins of here i only make it up there once a year,

one of these days i will do a test and tune , but my issue is with tuning at this track its 800 ft higher in elevation so when i get it down here it will be rich

................oh well so many projects and so little time, i hope you make the track this year anyway,do it its is an experience you will never forget, the quarter mile its what these cars are made for get on it

Didn't think just 800ft would make that much difference?

dave-r wrote:Didn't think just 800ft would make that much difference?
it does dave i can tune the car here and go up there and it is noticably slower, everybody i talk to says the same thing there cars run faster here in denver that up at the track, use a g meter and it tells the tale,im telling you dave there is a difference,a noticable difference, heck the temp is usually 10 to 20 degrees cooler, but when its 90 down here it is usually in the low 80,s up there, not much cooler but thinner air makes the car run a little different like i said tuning the car for up there usually results in a rich fuel mix when they get down here,is small but there is a difference, and i can sure tell the difference

Maybe because the air is already pretty thin at your starting point?

I am only a few hundred feet above seal level where I am and if I go up a further few hundred feet inland it dosn't seem to make any difference.

yes i was thinking about that going from sea level up to 800 ft is not that far, but going from 5000 ft up 800 more, it is a little different,if you went up to say 3500 ft you would notice a difference,it is kinda funny its more than the way the car runs it smells different too, i can smell the extra fuel out the exhaust, i went up to mt evans one time and after about 9 or 19 thousand feet the car was really starting to stink like fuel, and it was kinda bogging, but once i reached the summit of 14 thousand feet i had to get out and open the hood and have a look at the carb cause it smelled like fuel inside the car and i thought i had sprung a leak, but it was the carb just flooding with fuel and not enough air to burn the extra fuel, its quite amazing to say the least, did you know that water boils at 190 degrees here, cause at 212 normal boiling temp it turns to steam, that reminds me i need some tea

No Euronats for me this year, I'm going to Southern France for drag racing (I won last event with the cuda in the 13.0 category, so I got to give it a try this season ; I attended the opening race but didn't take part in it. however, I'm second overall now; so I guess I'll do the remaining races : next one is the same week-end as the Euronats). With four members racing, I don't know how many French Connection guys will go to Pod.
I will miss Santa Pod for the first time in 10 years.

It is always nice to see the French cars there. You guys have some very cool machinery. You will be missed.

I am camping for the first time in many years. I am taking the larger of my two tents for comfort. It is much easier to get dressed when you can stand up.
I had a practice setting the tent up in my back garden yesterday. Nowt more pathetic than a man standing in a field scratching his head trying to figure out how the damn thing goes up. This big tent is not easy for just one person to erect. But I think I will manage OK. I just hope it is not windy when I set up on the Friday.

I have packed the tent, laptop, folding chair, and one slick in the Challenger's trunk. That is it just about full already. Just enough room for a few tools.
I will have to try and figure out how to get the jack and a couple of axle stands in there too though. I might have to take the chair back out.
A friend is going to take one slick down for me so that helps a lot.

The airbed, sleeping bag, camping gear and food will have to go on the back seat. How I used to do all this years ago I do not know. I think I used to just about fill the whole interior.

We're not getting any younger, eh?.
Since I blew up my tent on my last race weekend (one rod split in two and went thru the tent fabric), I just bought a new one, where I can stand (I can also use a real, folding bed in there!). Now, I have in the cuda's trunk : the tent, two chairs, one folding bed, one folding hammock (great for a quick rest between rounds), along with the battery, tools, oil and various jars, fender covers and one small tent (which I use to unload all the trunk contents during the races)...
...and two slicks on the back seat (small 26x8). They absolutely *reek*.
I have to drive with all windows down.

I used to carry one slick (28x10) on the back seat but it has damaged the end of the center console several times and I am sick of gluing it back together.

Only managed to get up there Sunday but really enjoyed myself. Loads of top quality cars and racing, and loads of very friendly people to chat to. Even managed to recognise a few of our members, Dave R etc, and found some missing trim pieces for well cheap coin. Unfortunatly my own Chally failed to appear after a major electrical problem Saturday that saw me stranded by the side of the road (again) :( I'm hopeful for the Billing show in a couple of weeks
In the meantime I had to take Carols M3 cabrio (which I parked well out of the way so I could'nt get mistaken for a hairdresser  )

One high point of the weekend for me was racing message board member jimbob 440. The reason being our cars are so closely matched.

I day dreamed on the line so Jim got a 0.3 second head start on me.
He pulled away really strong and was ahead by a length at one point.
I slowly pulled it back but at the top end I really came on strong and stormed past him to a 12.24 over his 12.57. :D

I have never actually ever been in such a close drag race. The "other" car is usually much slower or much faster than me. This was really exciting.

 good run there dave, your right about day dreaming on the lights, shame we didnt have another go i managed a 12.27 on the sunday with 1.74 60ft but like you say real close race, glad we had a go, not so sure about storming past me tho i seem to remember you pulling about half a wing length  but a win is a win and good on ya, your motor pulls strong on the top end
