just a quick up date i ran a 14 .7,and the car weighed in at 4000 lbs with me in it(i add sound system with 2 amps and a sub,, and a full tank of gas, and all the tools in the trunk)

i wanted to see how heavy i could make it just for fun, since i ran a 13.7 with 3:91 rear gears at 3800 lbs,remember in running at 5800 ft, so the air is thin and rare, if at sea level,and the right tune i could be in the high 12 sec area, not bad for a street/road car with street tires, here is a few pics

yea thats pretty fat,but it was consistent,till i put all my tools,chairs, etc in the car for one last run 15 flat lol,

but it is interesting most of the stock e bodies, and b bodies,and a bodies run high 14,s and low 15,s and there is alot of them to compare,it takes alot to get in to the 13,s up here,usually slicks and low gears :nod:

slow didnt even crack a hundred, it was 92.76 mph 60 ft time was really slow as the tall gears dont have any bottom end,and it still spun the tires, it was 2.091

You didn't loose much coming off the line. Your mph indicates you were making just over 249 hp at the rear wheels. Your ET indicates you only lost 0.5 hp due to bad traction. So your engine was putting out about 320hp at the crank at the track.

so that is respectable,but not top hp,that is an average of what it took to reach that speed, but the engine actually puts out more power is that right?


also try my best time of 13.7 @ 102 mph

102mph at 3800lbs in weight gives you 315hp at the rear wheels which is about 385hp at the crank.

13.7 seconds at 3800lbs gives you 292hp getting to the track surface so you lost about 23hp with tire spin/chassis.

Bare in mind the stock 440 only really made about 330 at the crank despite what it was advertised at.

ok so i am making a little more than a stock 440 .

and those ratings btw are done at sea level, i hate to keep bringing this up , but some folks come up from the flat land like kansas and they really struggle to get in to the 14,s when at there track in kansas they usually run 13,s , this thin air really robs about 20% of the real power

,so i am satisfied that i almost putting out 350 to to 375 hp, my buddies camaro he got it off the dyno and he has a a very impressive 425 hp at the rear wheels, but that is a chevy,with alot of custom head work, and a stroker small block, oh well im rambling and need to get some work done .

385 at the crank is not bad considering your altitude. There might be more in it with tuning?
It certainly drives well so I wouldn't worry about it.

I was making 445hp at the rear wheels but if you drove my car you would feel the difference in drive quality. My car rumbles and shakes like a hot rod! It does not have the quality feel and drive your engine and suspension gives your car.

You must come over and give my car a test drive. Yeah you will love the power but I bet you would hate to drive it any distance. By the time I drive to our EuroNats my arms are shaking and aching and I have gone partially deaf! :lol:

yea i could probably tune it to get more horse power but then there is a traction problem ,and yes i feel that my car is a good all around street/track car, it wouldent keep up with yours though

,I have driven Jims AMX a long distance and yes the fatigue was bad my arm are sore like i had been using a chin saw all day

, yes there is a big trade off when it comes to going fast ,and i dont want to cross that line and lose the street manners, :nod:

yea i guess it has its balls hangin out with no jock strap, and it does cuss and fart alot, and alot of belching,and under arm stink, and crotch rot :lol2: :wink2:

oh yea one very important fact i left the car in drive, it shifts at 3800 rpms. so if i shifted at 5000 rpms,i would go faster :lol2:

I doubt you were anywhere near peak power shifting that low.

I shift at 6500. :shock:

crikey mate i have only hit my rev limiter(set at 6000) once or twice on the road course,and at that rpm it just sounds like........well i just dont want to break it i know peeps have told me this engine will do 6300 rpm,s but i just dont trust it i have broken to many push rods and valve geometry issues,and i have it pretty reliable (3/8 inch smitty bros push rods custom made),so maybe some day i wlll do like a drag set up , get some 15 inch slicks, drop the pressure in the shocks, remove the front sway bar,run some race fuel bump the timing etc,

MAYBE SOMEDAY

and i have that clanking in my rear end i need to address this weekend i need to pull the pumpkin ya hoo! :madd:

Just remember. Horspower is torque and RPM multiplied. So if RPM is low HP is going to be low.

lol seth just told me that, and it makes total sense and he said the same thing that hp i lower at 5252 rpm,and then torque levels off and horse power becomes the higher number, good stuff to know ,and maybe just a little manuel shifting will net a few 10ths of second, a shift light would help too! :thumbsup:
