That would be the ideal time Jon, unfortunately it will take that long for me to arrange the logistics, I need to buy a Fifth wheel hitch for my truck bed. I have a friend that will lend me his enclosed trailer, but it's a 5th wheel trailer. My truck is only fitted with a class V rear frame mounted hitch, which is fine but most larger trailers use the 5th wheel for greater load capability and stability, because the weight is centered above the axle instead of pushing down on the ass end only. I'll probably spend a few nights in my truck which is outfitted with a large enough cab to sleep fine if I go alone. Maybe I could hook up with Dave in the midwest somewhere and we could drive the R/T out together Barc,(FAL308) lives in St. Louis dont know if he would be interested. Ideas, Ideas, keep em coming, this is great!

How long a drive from yours to Denver Eddie? A full days driving? I could share the driving from yours if you want. Share the fuel costs too.

From my house to Drew's is 15 hours. 1008 Miles Approx. I entered my address which is 9700 South Armstrong Place, Terre Haute, Indiana,, 47802 to Denver, Colorado, I dont know Drew's address so I just used Den. Co. and it's the above info. Having Wayne along would be terrific! We older dudes need a bodyguard anyways. Having You&Wayne along for the ride would be a great time, it's a long boring ride until Colorado, and then it's beautiful once you hit the Colorado border. You guys could help with the driving.The midwest is nothing but flatland farm fields,,gets boring through Illinois&Kansas. Brothels are perfectly legal in Nevada so thats a must see!! I should have plenty of funds for fuel. I sold a few toys that I dont have time for anymore, my brother Jimmy bought them from me. He offered to sell them back but it's not my 'bag' anymore.

Dave, I spoke with the wife, she wants you guys to spend the night here in my home in Terre Haute,Ind., I can pick you both up at Indianapolis International AirPort which is only an hour east of Terre Haute, Ind. then the next day after a good rest, we can depart in my Truck/Trailer to Denver,,sound OK? It's an option for you&Wayne if you choose to accept it. Just wanted to let you know of all your options,, if not thats cool too.

I don't know if Wayne's wife is quite as accommodating though. We shall have to see what he says.

I always find that with alternative two hour stints at the wheel you can keep going without getting tired.

Also you may find the mid-west "boring farmland" but you have to remember that for the likes of me it is all new and exciting!

And I don't care if the desert is too hot and uncomfortable. Again, it is all part of the experience to me. I would be very disappointed if the desert was not hot and uncomfortable!

All I need is, a sure date. I'll have to check flight's to denver. Then flight's back from California. Will have to juggle my saving's. Now, I need a new roof.

Diana just looked at flights for me.

If I book before the 27th of this month I can get a great deal on a return flight to Eddies for £360 ($540). To avoid problems getting time off at work the week 26th Sept - 4th Oct would be ideal for me. But any week in Sept would be possible if I twist the bosses arm.

The 5th Sept is my wedding anniversary so it is probably best if I don't miss that.

What will the weather be like that late in the year?

Using Google Earth I see, as Eddie says, it is about 1000 miles from Eddies to Denver. So about 15 hours of driving.

From Denver to Goldfield (where the filming was done) is only slightly less. About 922 miles or 14 hours.

From Goldfield to San Francisco is better. 485 miles or about 8-9 hours driving.

Then we have to get back again.

So only just possible in one week.

Are you sure you are up for this Eddie? We will need a weeks holiday just to rest up after.

the weather that time of year is probably the best,imo,but we cant control that , however it usually is in the mid 80s to low 90s f as far as temperature,and some thunder storms,and maybe a tornado or two, but thats about it,it will be nice for what needs to be done,hey those are some good airfares ,thats not bad at all

I think if we are going to do this we should maybe spend a full day at Denver (get the BBQ going Drew ) and a full day at San Francisco.

Yep, I'm definitely up for it Dave. My biggest hurdle will be getting the trailer 'deal' squared away. I want to take my car along and an enclosed trailer is the only way. The person who offered me the trailer is also my instructor at school. He's a bracket racer. I'm going to talk to him today about making 100% sure he will allow me the use of it at that time,(Sept 1-9) should cover it, I'll throw him a wad of cash to compensate of course! I also do business with his father who finances his sons racing, so he 'better' appease my demands! His father handles all my insurance on the R/T, home ect.. This way we would have access to 2 Challengers for the desert drive. San Fran is gorgeous, hell the whole area west of Kansas is very nice and scenic. I wont go down Polk street,(pronounced poke street) in San Fran LOL.

Oh and when we get to the Desert, you'll have to watch out for me. I get an itch to make goats milk cheese, dress like a bedouin! LOL

Don't know if I'll be able to make it yet but if you guys come through St Louis, you're welcome to use my house in Pacific as a base.

It's OK for me Dave, I asked about the trailer from my instructor, He Sold it, damn!! So I'll be inquiring concerning enclosed trailers,,,I'm on it!!

As a third option, there is a company here called Cruise America. They rent RV motorhomes. (I think you can pull a trailer behind them too)

Looks like a medium sized rig from what I have seen on the road. It should fit in most camp spaces too. Comfortable for maybe 4-6 people. No animals though.

Eddie. Your Challenger might be OK on an open trailer if we could get Master Po (RedRaven) to sit on the front of it and catch all the dirt and flies with his chopsticks.

Well I only have a few days to order my air tickets. I will try to book a little over a week so we are not rushed. Once booked I am coming over ready or not!
If the trip does not go ahead I will be sitting in your house for a week Eddie.

Barc, thanks for the offer, Dave looks like we may have to use Waynes Chopstick skills, Drew I like the trunk!! I'll get something worked out. A whole week should give us plenty of time to get in trouble! I'm actually thinking of buying a good used one. It would probably be the wise thing to do. Used single car units go for around 2500.00-4500.00 by this summer I'll have enough for a serious down payment and still have enough funds for the trip. I'm talking myself into buying this thing so you guys should agree with me on this right?

Looks like that leaves me out! One good Look& smell and they'll be convinced I'm the missing link!
