midnight or 11:00 PM Sun.ok then you should have a mellow day on monday and head out tues?maybe that puts us in frisco by thursday,we need to head back east no later than friday morn to get back to denver by sun. and then you guys stay sun. nite, leave monday morn, another 20 hours to indy, that puts you home by monday nite late, does that sound right,or we could do it the tradition of the movie and leave denver monday afternoon, or evening, tomorrow i will do a mapquest route and see what kind of real time frame we are looking at

Here in the UK it takes me only 5 hours to travel 300 miles. That is with a couple of short stops and heavy traffic on the roads. So multiplying that up it works out as 16 hours to Denver from Eddies. So you are probably not far wrong on the timescale Eddie.

But you are unlucky if you get stopped for speeding here in the UK at anything between 70-85mph. Usually there are so many people driving at that speed that the police only concentrate on those drivers going over 90mph. And there are still plenty of them.

However the AVERAGE speed I usually manage is pretty low. Because of the heavy traffic we can only get over 70mph in short stretches. I always imagined that on those long American roads we could average a higher speed even if keeping under 70mph?

When me and my brother were kids my dad was a long distance truck driver and during the summer holidays he used to drop us off at our grandparents a few hundred miles away. He was used to never stopping for many hours. If we wanted a pee he would make us pee in a bottle and pour it out of the window. If he did have to stop for some reason (like if my sisters or mother was with us) he used to get really agitated about "dropping his average speed".

I have grown up the same. If Diana makes me stop I am like a caged tiger nagging her to get going again.

So don't expect any long rest breaks with me around Eddie. Just a quick "splash and dash" two or three times.

Man, Dave, you're Dad sounds a lot like mine. Back when I was younger we used to go to Kings Island,(An amusement Park Hell), we would all pile in the Family "U.S.S. Dodge Polara" pull in the 'oars' and off we were to a road trip from Hell. My brothers would usually get sick and throw up all over the place. We would also 'torture' my sister! When dad finished kicking our asses he would cuss and complain about why God forced this 'hell' upon him, and if we would ever do it again as he proclaimed this is the last time with you damned kids! The other day I asked Dad if he would like to go back to 'Kings Island" he gave the same look the U.S. Marines gave the Japanese on Iwo Jima! The Highway Coppers are usually hardasses. They'll ticket their own mothers. New tech now used, they simply mail you the speeding ticket after passing a laser beam it calculates your speed, snaps a digi pic of the back of the vehicle and enhances the liscense plate#, if you have expired registration, plates, insurance ect,, you get 'hammered' for that too!

ok sounds like we were raised with the same road rules,my dad made me hold it,on a long road trip in a 64 fury 383 rag top,and well i didnt make it, and dad said "why didnt you say something?",well i did but he wanted to make it home ,but it wasnt that bad just a little wet :tears:funny thing is if you speed lts say 10 mph faster than the limit it only nets you a few minutes, its not like its an hour gained by blazing along at 80 or 90 mph :rage:

That will cost $ 3,000 in fuel alone for my car!(If I'm lucky, I usually average about 6-8 miles per gallon) I'd better start saving up now. This means no new engine parts!

Holy Crap! I just did some calculating guys. At $3.00/Gall one way it will be $3,000 in fuel alone to San Francisco just for the Challenger. For the diesel 1/2 that, so that would cost me $4,500 for fuel to San Fran from Drew's. I looked up the cost for Vegas which is 760 miles and that would cut the fuel costs by 1800.00 but still, costs would be $3700 so we have to come up with a plan for either more people, or change the final destination to another place. I simply cant afford to buy a trailer for 7,000 with taxes and insurance and come up with 4500,00 for fuel. Let me know what you guys think of all this new info.

I'm getting very concerned over the fuel costs. Including the diesel, and round trip figuring. I will have to have $7,500 total fuel for both vehicles from my home to Denver and then the Challenger from Denver to San Fran and back.

1000 miles divided by 10 miles per gallon would be 100 gallons at 3.00 per gallon=900.00 bucks right,,X2=1800.00 bucks correct? Thats round trip in my Challenger from Denver to San Fran. That doesnt count the diesel which gets 20 mpg so half that would be 900.00 so thst 1800.00 plus 900.00=2700.00 for fuel for both my vehicles from Denver to San Fran,,I think my figures are correct Drew. BTW, I am being very allowing on those fuel figures, if you drive the R/T like Sam Posey that figure drops from 10 MPG on down in a BIG hurry!!

Take it easy, Eddie. We'll all share the cost of fuel. Maybe we can find the hippie's in the desert and, trade Rattle Snake's for fuel and bean's.

if we split the fuel costs it wont be so bad,

we should have a plan b to account for weather, and economy, not sure what we should do for a plan b but we need one

, i dont want you guys to come all this way and have a freak snowstorm with 2 feet of snow, it has happened,

i just want to have an extra plan, also of we run out of gas we haul the cars in the trailors, and save a little there

Great news guys. I GOT the LOAN!! I pick up the trailer Mon. Feb 2  Then it's off to the Tool Store for a 5,000lb. Winch, Mounting plate, Heavy Duty Tie downs for all four corners. That should secure the R/T nice and tight, and a couple of PadLocks for the doors. I'll check the tires, but they should be new. Spare? they are 15" wheels.

Eddie maybe you could sell advertising space on the side of your trailer to help offset the costs.

Any chance I could tag along?
