Thank goodness you showed those seat covers Eddie, now we know why you hang out in public restrooms. I think you had everyone (esp. your co-travelers) concerned :disbelief:

Reminds me of the funny scene in the movie City Slickers where one of them goes behind the sage brush and squats down and thinks he got bit by a snake. He then asks his friend to suck out the venom. I just want you guys to know up front that if that happens on our trip, you are dying of a snake bite.

Having problems with my Carbs. Here's a pic of the NGK's after only 50 or so miles! They reek of gas and I think the float level is way off. I have taken Daves advice which has helped a bunch,(Thanks Dave), and tried to get it running 'clean' again but it's just not reponding to any of my adjustments. I think it's time to pull them, put them on my Bench and get a few Holley/Pro-Max rebuild kits.

ya know what ed i had the same problems ,so i did just that a total rebuild, the gaskets were shot, and the base was loose as well as the float bowls i know you guys are running a six pac but the gaskets are the same material, and this crap gas we have to use sits in there and eats away at them and the get pretty rotten and soft,i mean mine were just like a piece of old soggy cardboard, and the carb ran like crap :rage:

Thanks Drew, you can see the 'Blue' gasket between the metering block on the Center Carb, those are real nice. But the other gaskets are the plain Holley ones that came with the carbs I bought back in 1998. When I get the Re-Build kits from Pro-Max I'll ask for the better non-stick premium Gaskets they sell.

1998., clear back in the 1900,s wow yes those non stick gaskets are good for 2 maybe 3 times of r&r but after that they are done, i plan on buying anothe set just to have cause you never know, after all the adjustments i made to mine the final time i checked the gasket and it is already a little flimsey around the edges, what gasket does that promax use are they like the demon nonstick?

The Holley Blue Non-Stick Gaskets are made for their brand but I'm sure Pro-Max has them for Demon carbs too.

I'm getting ready to pull the center carb off. I have a sneaky suspicion that the wrong Power Valve is in there and it's dumping fuel at anything below 8" or so,,basically idle and cruise,,at high speeds it runs very strong. I adjusted the idle on all 3 carbs,(AF mixture screws) with no change. In the meantime I loaded my welding inst. car on my trailer so he could take it to a show,,it's an Ol Shivy pile,,but it gives me an indication on how to get out of the car once inside,,how much room ,(approx), I'll have when the R/T's in there. Not much!

No Barc. I have the Center carb off the manifold. The center carb PV shows a #7 and a #6 and a #5 ,,I asked Pro-Max and they said it was a #7," not sure why the others numbers are on there and the Letter L but they said I should have a #4.5" of vacum PowerValve in there. My Plant makes 10-12" at 800 RPM's,, the person that installed the pro-max kit left the stock OEM Holley PV in when installing the kit. I hope this is the cause of my driveability problems. I ordered a new PV and a new fuel line set. I had to cut one of the lines to remove it. One fastener was completely rounded off and I couldnt get to it with a wrench or vise grips due to the center carbs vent tube and didnt want to 'bugger' the carb up. Low on money, if this doesnt fix it......

A new Holley/OEM fuel line kit, 4.5 Powervalve, and Pro-Max base gaskets for the center and back outboard Carbs are on their way,,just got off the phone with Ben.. Glad I ordered it before the MoPar Nats. The Pro-Max dudes will all be gone,,and I want to get this done and road tested and 'Dave,Drew,Pat&""Hairy Back Bob""' approved soon.

A quick easy check is to put a vacuum on the the PV to see if it's blown. :s023:

No tuner here but on my 650 DP with 13" vacuum at idle, i am running a 8.5 Power valve and it seems to work. A Small block of coarse.
