if we follow the laraya belt we will be good, i did talk to a mopar guru about the trip and he travels to vegas/nevada alot.,
and a good midway point is salina utah, or green river utah, give me some feed back
as we can make either destination in about 7 or 8 hours and the next day about the same driving time to goldfield,
he usually hauls a trailor and he says they do about 65 to 70 mph so it looks like we can do this in a week easy
if we do run out of time getting there we can always do some shift driving on the way back and make the whole trip in about 12 to 13 hours if we go direct with out stopping :thumbsup:the movie was on fox yesterday so wasted the rest of the day watching the american version , i did get my hands on the uk version and there is indeed a different scene with the chick and the other thing i niticed that they use one of those traffic counter boxes ya know the ones they place on the side of the road in the movie it blinks when he drives over the sensor , kinda funny how did they know it was that particular carthey showed it twice and then they show the map and like they know its him and not some other car like a derilict from the depression lol :disbelief:

Today, I am installing my new 5,500 lb. winch and coating the trailer floor. I have to say something here, I am in bad shape. My knees are finally giving way. It wont be too long and I know I'll have to have them replaced. But, it is written......... SuperSoul will guide me to the 'promised Land'. Dave and Bob will drive us there! I'll have to keep 'mum' I think Dave hates back seat drivers! Today is nice and sunny, my knees are much better but for how long...

I'll see what I can do. I'm not a free loader. If I do get to come, I will pay my share, for food, gas etc.... Time's are tough. I did participate in the first car show, of the year. For me anyway. I won best 70's Stock. I got that last year, too! :D There was about 200 cars there. Not a big show by any means but, I'm still pretty happy about it.

I don't know how I'm going to swing it but, I am coming. Back in the day, it was ass, grass or gas, no free ride's. Well, I'm happily married and not gay, No ass. I haven't smoked pot in year's, no grass. That only leaves the gas. I will do some side job's or, whatever to get some gas money for you all. When I told my wife that I wasn't going, she asked me if I was bi-polar. :hmmm: I said no, I haven't been to either the North or the South Pole. :s006: This is a rough time but, this is a once in a life time thing. Can't wait to meet you all. Eddie, your going to make it, too. You might be in a wheelchair but you'll make it. After all, the plane ticket's are bought and paid for.
Drew, can I still get that ride from the airport?

I put 2 coats of Urethane Clear down, then the winch will be mounted as shown. I still have to weld or drill a steel plate underneath mounted to the frame to re-inforce the winch mounting area.

#2,, Glad to hear your back in the "Game Plan" Pat! This Winch is a 5500 lb. unit. All I need now is an DC to AC Power Invertor, that way we can run our appliances and comm devices with it, as well as charge the battery that I will buy just for the Winch. I thought about running a wiring harness to power the winch and charge it intermittently, until I checked on the price of # 2 Ga. or 0 Gauge wiring and I would need about 12 feet of it or more, it's very expensive. So I thought about having a battery for the winch. and just keeping it charged from time to time. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Keep in mind it will only be used to pull the car up/down, at 7 feet a minute max line speed at 4000 pounds@220 Amps. A 1050 CCA Battery should do it.(RV Truck)

and just keeping it charged from time to time,my buddie jim just has a plug and when we hook up the trailor we plug in the harness and it has its own battery,so it just charges while the truck is running, should work for you too!

yea pat i knew you would reconsider,it will be worth it,and no hokey pokey :s024:

Will one of you who is going on this road trip please fill me in on the itinerary? It's happening during my production season and that willl keep me off the trip itself, but I do want to meet up with you all at some point on a day off even if it means two plane flights in one day for me.

Eddie, you may want to look into a deep cycle battery for the winch.
Have you had the car in the trailer yet?

Yes Jack it would be great to meet up with you.

We do need to finalise an itinerary as you say. So we need to decide if we take two days to get from Denver to Goldfield or one. And then we need to decide if we are spending one night in Yosemite or not. If so we need to book a camping space for the two trucks.

No, Barc I havent had it in the trailer just yet. You're right, a way to keep the battery charged via the 7 pin connector and an adaptor should do the job. Any ideas on where to get an adaptor? I could splice&solder a wire to the battery + from the power wire. Or I could use the power invertor when we stop for the night and put it on the battery with a trickle charger. I want to do this in a safe but economical way. It's gonna take 2 days to Goldfield. I'm not driving at night  We can 'buy' some time by leaving to Denver as soon as you and Bob arrive in Terre Haute, Dave is this too much to ask of you? It's gonna be tough but I think we can do it.

Me too! OK, we leave Terre Haute around 6:00 PM and that will give us a 12 hour head start, sorry Dave, I was planning on making my famous Pork Ribs. but we can get some chow on the road, I have a toiletries kit for you so dont worry about that. We should get to Denver and Drew's home later on that next day. Spend the night at Drew;s place then depart for Goldfield early next morn. Sound OK?

Here's some "Hokey Cokey" for you, Dave. Now my daughter Sidney, has side swiped a car. The owner is the Chief, Prosecuting Attorney for Skamania County. :rage: She was parking the Volare' and peeled the side of his 04' Mustang G.T. Convertible. I don't know how much this is going to cost. :disbelief: I haven't seen it yet. Sidney's car has some real NICE, silver pin striping on it, now. :s023: Don't think, I can pay cash for this one. Insurance will probably take another hit. So will my rate's. I will still, make this trip. Somehow. :s012:

Pat your luck is as good as mine these days.

Eddie. I am fine with what ever plans you think are best. Yourself and Drew have the "local knowlege" on this. I will do my driving bit (try stopping me :D ) and as long as I can get a "nap" now and again until the jet lag wears off I will be OK. If I dribble down my shirt while asleep don't take a photo of me or I will throw your camera out the window.

Eddie, you should be able to get an adapter at any trailer supply or probably even a farm supply (Tractor Supply, Orschelin, Farm & Home etc). You can get them online from a place like www.etrailer.com http://www.etrailer.com/c-E.htm or similar but it would most likely cost more, due to shipping.
Summit Racing even has trailer battery wiring kits http://store.summitracing.com/compare.a ... wordSearch don't know if this is what you're looking for. You could also hit Grainger or similar and build your own
