Positions of coolant recovery and washer bottles

HI, back in 2003 there were some discussions on this -but only as related to a 70 Challenger. On a 73, I want to know how the coolant recovery bottle (overflow) and the washer bottle fit in. The horns are located on the central rad support so are right out of the way. Here are the pictures of the bottles. Are they both on the passenger side of the rad support? Or is one on the fender, opposite the alternator? They certainly are weird shapes. Also, do i need a special bracket for the overflow? Any pictures or your 72-74 with these fitted would be appreciated thankyou.

The washer bottle goes on the passenger inner fender very close to the radiator support. The charcole canister is right in the corner and the washer bottle goes up against it.

The coolent overflow bottle I believe(mine doesn't have one) bolts to the fan shroud on the drivers side. I have a pic of a 74 on my home computer but I'm at work. If your car doesn't have a shroud...it didn't come with a coolent overflow tank. A hose just runs down the side of the radiator and dumps onto the ground.

OK...I did a search on another site and found the pictures that I have on my home computer. These should tell you what you need to know.

It looks like the overflow bottle bolts to a bracket. That bracket then bolts to the radiator support, NOT the shroud like I said earlier.

Burdar, thankyou for going to the trouble of finding those pics, it is much appreciated. Just what i was looking for. Now i know why the washer bottle is a funny shape on 72 up- to accomodate the charcoal cannister on pollution control vehicles. I have taken mine off - 73 model cars in Australia did not need them at that time. I do want to run a coolant recovery system, so i can use good quality coolant, and not having it dump on the ground. But my Chal has a 22" radiator (not stock) and i have made a custom shroud to fit it, so the overflow bottle will have to go elsewhere, maybe up against the rad support on either side.

By the Way, that 74 engine bay certainly looks stock! I suppose its a 318 with that 2 barrel - all 360's would have had the ThermoQ, i presume? Strange colour too - Goldy green.

thanks again !

The guy that posted those pics for me on another site said that he parted out that 74 in the 80's. It had gotten hit hard in the drivers door. It was all origonal at the time.
