Heater Box is Out

Postby Trep01 » 08 Mar 2008 1:48

I pulled my heater box from my '73 Challenger and although the fiberglass box is in excellent condition on the outside, inside was a mess. Since the car has been parked for 18 years it was full of mouse crap and rust. I pulled it all apart and cleaned it really well and will bead blast all the metal parts. I have no idea what was covered in felt or insulation. Does anyone know if theres a rebuild kit for the box? Thank you.

I did and they don't have anything. I'm really just looking for the foam that was used to wrap the diverters inside the box. It's only about 3/16 thick. I tried weather stripping but it's to dense. I'll keep looking....thanks.

I see, is that foam a grey coloured high density foam about 1/4" thick and self adhesive backing on one side? If it is, you might try the various home inprovement centers and make the flap/door gaskets or coverings yourself. or you could try and contact www.classicautoair.com and see what they say although they dont offer that part specifically. They used to re-store the old style MoPar A/C/ Heater boxes. Good Luck
