Ok Guys,
Once again I think you have solved the problem for me.
I started the car and there was no problem, I only ran it for a couple of mins and all was fine so I looked under the hood and low and behold the was fuel in the filter 2/3 full like Dave said it should be all the time, now note that it was dry as a bone the day I had the problem.
So I was just about to jack up the car and get under to check the line like Dave said when I noticed a shimmer from the line from the filter down...Upon closer inspection the shimmer was fuel..I looked closer and realised the line itself has become cracked and was leaking fuel...
This is my theory based on what Dave said re Heat on the line...
When she is cold the fuel is in liquid form but after a while when the system heats up ie (the exhaust) the fuel vapourises in the line and escapes via the heat expanded line (where the cracks are)up to the filter(which is why it was dry the last time I checked the day of the problem.)
So as suggested she is spluttering and coughing due to lack of fuel to the carb.
I replaced the fuel line from the filter to the carb a number of months back because of the same problem, its just the other day when the problem occured I lost the daylight and couldnt see the problem with the fuel line. I will replace the fuel line when the parts store opens.
Does my theory sound plausable guys??
If so Im getting all mechanical...If not then Im a no good uneducated jackass!!
Thanks lads...I will update when I replace the fuel line.
