Heater delete - A Factory option ??????

This is what an ebay seller says:

Factory heater delete plate from a 1970 Challenger. Numbers on back are 2884717 2884705 96683. This is not a conversion. Heater switch screws have never been threaded into the bosses.

Question: I have never heard of a heater delete option. Have you? Is this some kind of race car option or what?

I don't think they have much in the way of cold weather in places like that.

That reminds me of a funny little story:

The city of Gothenburg hosted the world championships in athletics back in 1995. The weather was just marvellous at that time with no rain at all, and temeratures (steady, all of the time) between 28° to 33° C (82°F-92°F) or something. It is very unusal for us to have such temperatures. There was a Brasilian reporter here to cover this event. He reported back to his country about this happening and added a note of warning: "Do not travel here in august because it is too hot at that time of year."

This story gives me a smile on my face everytime I think of it. :D

I checked the option code on http://www.dodgechallenger.co.uk/ . Heater Delete has the code H25, in case someone is intrested.
