Unless it is drastically different to my 1970 it comes out quite easily actually. The main nuts holding it in are accessed on the engine side of the bulkhead. Studs from the heater box go right through the bulkhead. One or two screws under the dash too I think. Remove any trim in your way.
I don't see you having any problems and I think once you look closely you will see how easy it is.
