71 production numbers

Having had a close call with my old girl a couple of weeks ago on the motor way with a drunk driver, I have decided to get an agreed value put on my insurance. I have spoken to a mopar guru and he has put the value at double what I thought she was worth :shock: the reason being finding a replacement, importing and paying the duties all add up and I can see his point. This leads on to my question: have I got any way of finding out how many '71 Challengers V8 in plum crazy with power steering and power brakes were ever produced? I have done a bit of searching and only come out with about 18,000 hard tops made in '71 but I would like to narrow it down a bit to see how rare these are now. It has got air con and tinted glass but where do you draw the line with the options list? Does anyone have any ideas how many were made or where I could find out these figures?

Chrysler kept approximate percentages on the sales figures of particular options. But no figures of what car might have come with what combination of options.

Some things (like tinted glass) were not so much an option but standard with AC and not standard without. Or part of an overall "package".

The only real production figures are found on this message board as a "sticky" at the top of this section.

She is a 318 with 904, the original is long gone :s005: I am thinking of freshening up a 360 to drop in. At present it is a mid eighties unleaded lump in there. I was at Brooklands on Sunday and amazingly enough someone that owned it in the eighties came up to me and confirmed my suspisions, she had really been used and abused back then! before her 20 year hybernation. He even confirmed the back seat had been well used :mrgreen: :s021:

Tinted glass was recommended, but not standard with AC. ;-)

See H51 & G11 on this page;

There is no way to determine percentages with different option groups though.

That is what I meant. You had to specify you didn't want it.
