The most accurate production numbers are here;

But as you will see Chrysler just grouped all the numbers together. This was because the numbers were used to show trends (which options were most popular) but when it became clear to them that the model was now a dead duck they didn't bother or need detailed stats on the options.
Many of the numbers you see or read about are US only shipments. Again this is because Chrysler were only interested in gathering stats that mattered to them. Such as their home market in the USA.
16,437 is the total 1974 Challenger production. That includes all options and all USA, Canadian and export shipments. As far as I know this is the only accurate number.
On my old website (which no longer belongs to me) I listed these figures;
1974 production was (pick one of these)
6,063 (I am told this figure is for cars with the 360 engine)
11,354
16,437
These are the numbers i could find at that time.
As already said the 16,437 figure is a total.
I
think the 11,354 figure may be US production numbers. If that is true then about half of them would be 360 versions so the 6,063 figure would be about right.
So you can guess from the way the 4-speed sold in other model years that under half of those would be 4-speed cars. So around 2500 would be my guess.
