Hi,

My first message... I have a 1971 Challenger convertible that was built September 1st 1970. The VIN is 1229** I have owned this car since spring of 1991. Does any one know of a car made earlier? It would be cool if this was the first convertible in 1971.

I am not sure when the 1971 Convertible production started. The hardtop production would have started in July. Barry Washington will probably have VIN information on some early '71 convertibles and hopefully he will look in and offer some information.

I do not track the 1971 cars like I do the 1970 models, but the earliest 1971 Challenger I am aware of has an SPD of 802, almost a full month before yours.
