A93 (Deptuy) Option with L6T7 (Chestnut) Interior

Postby bella beeze » 17 Aug 2008 0:54

Hi,

I have a 1971 dodge challenger and on the fender tag there is the deputy option (A93) B & E coupe package, with interior as tan/beige option ( L6T7 ) also it has the bucket seats option (C55) console w/ buckets option (C16)

From what I can gather the interior of the deputy was from a barracuda interior. But apparently the interior ONLY came in black and white? I read this everywhere that the interior was came only in Black & White.?

I have a couple of questions as a result:

1. Was the black and white ONLY interior for bench seats or for bucket seats or for both?

2. How did my car get a deputy with a barracuda interior but not in black and white but in chestnut (tan/beige) as the fender tag says.

The car was bought by my parents new in 1971 from a Chrysler dealership and was perhaps a Demo Car, as they bought it at the end of the season (late in 1971) with a few hundred miles on it.

3. Does this make any difference with the interior being chestnut (tan/beige)?

Have posted pics of the fender tag and interior. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Bella Beeze

Hey Bella,
Good to see you over here too.

The L6 interiors were specific to the A93 cars. It is not a "barracuda" interior pattern.

It was available in more than one color for 1971, look here;

This;

"700 Upper Door Frame: Unknown At This Time"

Is actually 000 - upper door frame paint - none.

The E-Bodies had a full plastic door panel, so where the A and B bodies would show a paint code here, the E bodies do not.

You are everywhere. Obviously the man with that knows.

Ya I am getting around here and there, trying to gather info on the car. I am getting attached to it and considering keeping it.

Thanks so much for your input. Thanks for the Links -- very informative and very interesting website -- hamtramck registry . Appreciate the info.

I am still have to locate the broadcast sheet for the car. I should have the car back from the mechanics next week and will search in the areas you stated.

Thanks again :D

If you do decide to keep it, I have a pal that exports cars to Australia from L.A., California. He may be able to give you some advice on how to get it home from Canada if needed?

I have always wanted an original slant six Challenger Coupe, but I do not have the funds to buy one. I want to get one before they are all cloned into R/Ts, hopefully someday.....

I have never seen that interior before. I guess it must be quite rare. Take good care of her.

Do you have any more pix of the car?

Has it got many miles on the ODO?

70 year was only black or white- 71 same but if I'm correct you could order a different color as Barry says for a " option" price

also it has the bucket seats option (C55) console w/ buckets option (C16)

mine is the same- buckets & console car- option

1. Was the black and white ONLY interior for bench seats or for bucket seats or for both?

both

2. How did my car get a deputy with a barracuda interior but not in black and white but in chestnut (tan/beige) as the fender tag says.

that was a standard int. in 70

3. Does this make any difference with the interior being chestnut (tan/beige)?

different!!!

there was only 1265 Deputy's made in 1970 and 2035 made in 1971

so it is a old ball car- but many talking to me have never heard of one and they have owned Chally's for years!!!

so enjoy it!!!!!!

Thanks for your replies and input guys. This does confirm what I thought as I have not seen this upholstery anywhere over my short time searching challengers and this car.

I was surprised when Alaskan sent me the link to Hamtramck registry showing the exact same interior, as I have read elsewhere that deputies used barracuda interiors and thought that was where it came from.

The front driver's seat are a bit worn & torn. Is there any way of mending it? if you know.

By the way guys I am trying to sell the car so if anyone is interested please contact me. Apparently, my interior is RARE!

P.S. I will post more pics also I have pics on my business website -

The best offer over $10,000.

I live in Australia and I am just here in Canada to help my mother with her affairs after my dad passing away 1.5 years ago and then I am going back to Australia. Have been thinking of taking to Australia but I am undecided about it due to cost of shipping and the intense scrutiny that Australia will put the car through - they are vigilant about seeds & plant things germinating etc. But would love to take it to OZ and show it off there.

Just some history on the car....
My parents bought it on sale new from the dealership in 1971 with a few hundred miles on it as the salesman said they used it around the Chinook Chrysler dealership in Calgary Albert Canada, as a demo ( i need to check if it was a demo or not on the broadcast sheet -- car is at mechanics in Red Deer - will do this hopefully at the end of the week).

Anyway, I bought from my parents for a $1 in 1985. Thought it might be a nice gesture to sell it and give the sale proceeds to my mother as a gift for storing it for me all these years. She wants her kids to clear out their cars they have left behind in the garage and driveway.

So what do you think? Interested?

I would definitely interested in mending/fixing the driver' seat so If anyone knows how I go about this it would be appreciated. I am in Calgary and Red Deer Area if anyone knows of any businesses that do this kind of work.

Thanks for that and thanks again for all the great info on the car I now understand the different between the 70 & 71 interior etc. I am learning new stuff everyday.

Cheers

I ended up keeping my challenger (A93) and I am in the process of starting up a Challenger A93 Registry. Would appreciate you giving my details to the owner of the challenger in the pic, if it is a A93.

my email is dodge@challengera93registry.com

I should have the webiste up in next week.

Thanks
