What is the difference between JH23G2B and JS23G2B?

JH = Standard Challenger
JS = Rallye Challenger (70-71 = R/T)

strange they made a 318 car JS. So I wonder how many 318 JS`s cars
were made in 1972?

I might be wrong about the 340 being standard but I thought that was the case.

318 standard on the Rallye according to the brochure. But it also states the slant six was available and I was sure the slant six was dropped for '72?

18,535 JH Challengers in 1972 of which 1,267 were 340-4bbl powered.

8,128 JS Challengers of which 5,012 were 340 powered but 3,116 had the 318.

Interesting to note that, out of a total of 26,663 Challengers in 1972, only 6,279 were 340 powered.

So three quarters of all people buying a Challenger in 1972 wanted a smaller engine.
